Here are our position by position grades:

Quarterback:

Trent Edwards managed a decent game before his injury. He didn't get the team into the end zone as his red zone troubles continued and threw an interception. He did complete 14 of 21 passes for 130 yards in almost three quarters of work. J.P. Losman came in and led the team to victory completing 3 of 5 passes as he went deep on most throws including the 85 yard touchdown pass to Lee Evans. He threw for 113 yards and the score for a QB rating of a whopping 143.8. Grade B-: QB controversy could be back.

Running Backs:

Marshawn Lynch had a lot of tough yards but including some tough yards late. He carried the heavy load on the FG drive in the fourth quarter. He finished with 21 carries for 80 yards while battling a hip injury. Dwayne Wright got the most playing time of his career while Lynch was in and out of the lineup, he finished with 12 carries for a tough 25 yards. Anthony Thomas was a surprise inactive and Fred Jackson saw some game action for the first time this year on third downs. He had one catch and one carry for a total of zero yards. Grade C: Tough sledding as they averaged just 3.1 yards per carry.

Receivers:

Lee Evans finally made a big play. His 85 yard touchdown catch was beautiful. He finished with five catches for 138 yards. Roscoe Parrish only caught one ball for 12 yards and couldn't haul in a bomb from Losman. Josh Reed had four catches for 40 yards. Michael Gaines had one catch for 11 yards and couldn't haul in another pass. Robert Royal had two catches for 19 yards. Derek Schouman played a lot of fullback in this game and had one catch for nine yards. Grade C: Got the big play at the right time.

Offensive Line:

The line continues to struggle with run blocking as they were not too many big holes to run through. Pass protection is another story as they continue to give the QB time to throw, there was just one sack allowed. Grade C: A for pass protection, D for run blocking.

Defensive Line:

Aaron Schobel had his best game of the year with five tackles and a sack, he terrorized Jets QBs all day long. He also forced two fumbles. Chris Kelsay was slowed by his ankle injury but he fought through gamely and did recover a fumble. Jon McCargo had one pass defensed and was active in the backfield. Larry Tripplett had two tackles and a QB hit. Kyle Williams was very active with four tackles and a sack. Anthony Hargrove had a costly offsides penalty that gave the Jets a first down, he had three tackles. Grade A: Had best pressure of the season, made enough plays in run defense as well.

Linebackers:

John DiGiorgio was all over the field with 13 tackles. Keith Ellison was a non factor with just one assisted tackle but Angelo Crowell was all over the field with eight tackles and a sack along with two other QB hits. Grade A: Great job by this unit being all over the field.

Secondary:

Terrence McGee did a solid job in pass coverage including a big interception to seal the win. Jabari Greer also did a solid job as the Jets had just 173 yards passing, he also had seven tackles. George Wilson had an interception in the final seconds and was in on six tackles. Donte Whitner and Kiwaukee Thomas had four tackles each. Grade A: Solid job in pass protection.

Special Teams:

Brian Moorman had an off day as he had only a 34.3 yard punting average and a 29.3 yard net. Terrence McGee had two kickoff returns for 51 yards. Rian Lindell was 2 for 2 on field goals in the swirling winds hitting from 30 and 40 yards out. Roscoe Parrish had a busy day as he returned four punts for a solid 18.5 yard average. The coverage units held down Leon Washington as he had two punt returns for 10 yards and averaged only 24 yards on his two kickoff returns. Grade B: Another solid day for this unit.

Coaching:

Perry Fewell continues to get the most out of his young no name defense as they continue to get better each week. Dick Jauron had the team ready to play and they did nice things like opening up the passing game when Losman came in. Grade A: Second win in a row.
