The Skinny:
It was a repeat of the two games last year as the Jets ran wild against the Bills. This time the final score was a good indication of the dominance as the Jets routed the Bills 38-14. They had 273 yards rushing as LaDainian Tomlinson had 133 yards and Shonn Greene ran for 117. The Jets scored three touchdowns late in the third quarter to put the game away. Dustin Keller and Tomlinson each scored two touchdowns and Braylon Edwards added another. Ryan Fitzpatrick could get nothing going as he threw for just 128 yards completing just 12 passes. You know it's a bad day when he was the team's leading rusher with 74 yards on 7 carries. David Martin and Steve Johnson caught touchdown passes from Fitzpatrick in the debacle.
The Turning Point:
There really wasn't one since the Jets dominated this game from start to finish. If we had to pick one, we will pick the Bills first turnover. The Jets had already scored on the opening position but took complete control of the game on the ensuing kickoff. They blooped kicked it to keep it away from C.J. Spiller. Chris Ellis made a boneheaded move by trying to return it instead of fair catching it and he fumbled it. The Jets didn't score on the possession but they had control of the game.
The Big Drive:
This was a field goal drive for the Jets but it showed their total dominance in this game. They traveled 87 yards in 18 plays to an 18 yard field goal to go up 10-0 in the 2nd quarter. The drive took 9:21 and the Jets converted four third downs before being stopped when the Jets shockingly passes on third and goal at the one. Bills got away with a hold on the pass to Dustin Keller and the Jets settled for three.
Stat of the Game:
In the first quarter the Jets had 22 plays to the Bills 10 and outgained them 113-25. The Bills had zero yards passing in the first quarter. Still the Jets were only winning 7-0 despite forcing the only turnover.
What You Don't See On The Stat Sheet:
How the Bills just got constantly blown off both line of scrimmages. The Jets imposed their will opening up holes for their running game to get yardage in chunks. The Bills OL would form a wall on stretch running plays but it would collapse immediately, there were no holes for the Bills running game. In the passing game, Fitzpatrick was running for his life while Sanchez could have eaten a sandwich back there everytime he went back to pass. On second thought, this was seen on the stat sheet, just look at the final score.
Quick Slants:
- Geoff Hangartner came out for the coin toss and has replaced Trent Edwards as a team captain.
- For the first time all year the Bills deferred after winning the opening coin toss. The Jets had a 38 yard kickoff return and were off to the races for an easy opening touchdown drive of 63 yards in 9 plays. LaDainian Tomlinson ran for 42 yards on five carries during the drive including the one yard plunge. Mark Sanchez kept the drive going with a 3rd and 5 completion to Dustin Keller who was double teamed and made the seven yard reception.
- The Bills had 52 yards offensively on their first 13 plays and then got 52 yards on their last three plays of the first half. 48 yards on two passes from Fitzpatrick to David Nelson.
- The Jets started in Buffalo territory in back to back possessions in the third quarter and they scored two touchdowns to send the fans running to the exits.
My Take:
If this isn't rock bottom I don't know what could possibly be. I don't mean rock bottom to the season, I mean rock bottom to this nightmare of a football team we have seen in the last ten plus years. They flat out quit in the second half after getting this asses kicked all around the field in every phase of the game. The offense is awful with or without Trent Edwards. The defense can't stop the run in the 3-4 or the 4-3. Not enough talent at linebacker to play three let alone four of them. They have no starting caliber offensive tackles or a starting caliber quarterback. No pass rush and no pass protection. I could go on and on but it all adds up to a very long season on top of a very long decade.

What's Ahead:
The Bills remain at home and for the first time this year play a team that is not considered playoff caliber. The Jacksonville Jaguars come to town and the Bills look to get into the win column before the bye next week.
