Week 11: Offense Was In Giving Mood In Blowout Loss
Defense quits once again but five first half turnovers told the story.
by Steve Saslow

Here are our position by position grades:

Quarterback:

Nathan Peterman threw five interceptions in his one half of action before being replaced by Taylor for the second half. He also fumbled a snap from center.
Tyrod Taylor replaced Peterman in the second half but it was already garbage time. He did some good things but did have a strip sack that was returned for a score. He did run and throw for a touchdown.
Grade F: Now what do they do at QB going forward?

Running Backs:

LeSean McCoy ran well with three big runs and a touchdown. He went over 100 yards but it didnt mean much.
Travaris Cadet looked better than Mike Tolbert in a backup role.
Patrick DiMarco for some reason was thrown a pass early and it went off of him and was picked off and returned for a touchdown.
Grade B: Shady is their only player with a star quality.

Receivers:

Kelvin Benjamin made a nice catch on a slant pattern but injured his knee on the play.
Zay Jones had four catches for 68 yards all in garbage time.
Deonte Thompson had three catches for 36 yards before leaving with an ankle injury.
Andre Holmes has become in afterthought on this team.
Charles Clay dropped a touchdown pass when the game was already out of reach.
Grade F: This unit was decimated with injuries but it wouldn't have made a difference.

Offensive Line:

Eric Wood was called for a holding penalty.
Grade D: Gave up way too much pressure but did open holes for the running game.

Defensive Line:

Kyle Williams has become a non factor without Marcell Dareus.
Jerry Hughes looked ridiculous on a run by Gordon when he was faked out terribly. He got good pressure on another play.
Shaq Lawson got pressure on Rivers on one play and forced a deflected pass.
Grade F: Part of the pathetic effort.

Linebackers:

Preston Brown led the team in tackles in this game.
Lorenzo Alexander was quiet in this game.
Ramon Humber went after Rivers on a blitz and almost had a sack making him throw it away.
Grade F: The middle of the defense has been atrocious the past three weeks.

Secondary:

Tre'Davious White had five tackles and wasn't the main problem in coverage.
E.J. Gaines made a great tackle on Gordon when he was gaining a head of steam and may have scored if he didn't make the tackle for a 3 yard gain. Almost picked off a pass in the end zone but was out of bounds.
Leonard Johnson made a nice tackle for a loss on a run by Gordon. He had great covered of Tyrell Williams in the end zone later in the same drive to defend a pass. He then was beaten on a perfect 21 yard touchdown pass to Keenan Allen. He had good coverage on a play in the end zone to Hunter Henry late in the first half to force a field goal.
Micah Hyde left the game in the second half with a knee injury.
Jordan Poyer broke up a pass to Hunter Henry in the end zone during the first drive.
Grade F: The holes in the defensive backfield are ridiculous.

Special Teams:

Colton Schmidt punted three times. He had a 46 yarder and shanked a 29 yarder while adding a 45 yarder.
Steve Hauschka broke the NFL record with his 13 consecutive 50+ yard field goal when he hit a 50 yarder to pull the Bills to within 30 points in the third quarter.
Brandon Tate was a busy man returning 7 kickoffs but only averaged a paltry 20.6 yards.
Coverage Units allowed a 16 yard kickoff return but nothing else.
Grade C: Not their fault but they couldn't make a difference.

Coaching:

Sean McDermott has seen his team implode the last three weeks. They actually went seven quarters without forcing a punt! His QB change was a disaster and he may have lost the team.
Rick Dennison continues to have no answers and it doesn't matter who the quarterback is.
Leslie Frazier either doesn't have the players or he doesn't have teh right scheme but his defense stinks.
Grade F-: The coaching staff is a disaster right now.
