Week 10: Total Collapse By Buffalo In Loss
Defense just blown off the ball while Offensive play was pathetic.
by Steve Saslow

Here are our position by position grades:

Quarterback:

Tyrod Taylor was just terrible. His passes were inaccurate, he threw short of the sticks too often as well. He left the game in the fourth quarter after completing just 9 of 18 passes for 56 yards.
Nate Peterman saw his first action of the season in the fourth quarter. He threw the ball well in garbage time completing 7 of 10 passes for 79 yards and a touchdown pass.
Grade D-: Nice to see Peterman get out there. Offense was just terrible.

Running Backs:

LeSean McCoy had a 36 yard run in the first series then disappeared with the rest of the team finishing with 49 yards rushing for the whole game.
Mike Tolbert was used extensively this week which is not good because he didn't make a play.
Patrick DiMarco caught three passes but did little as a run blocker.
Grade D: Couldn't get the running game going but part of that was because of the score.

Receivers:

Kelvin Benjamin caught an nine yard pass on the second play of the game. He was targeted two other times on the opening field goal drive. Taylor overthrew him in the end zone and then threw it behind him on third down. It was nice that Tyrod threw it up there for him immediately. Of course he didn't get a ball thrown his way again until the final minutes in garbage time. He finished with three catches for 42 yards.
Jordan Matthews didn't catch a pass until garbage time.
Deonte Thompson had one catch in garbage time.
Charles Clay had two catches for 13 yards in his return. Had a big gainer called back by a penalty.
Grade F: The WRs only caught two passes.

Offensive Line:

Richie Incognito was called for a holding penalty.
Jordan Mills was called for being downfield illegally.
Dion Dawkins got the start for the injured Cordy Glenn. He recovered a McCoy fumble although he was down.
Grade C: Better than last week but not enough.

Defensive Line:

Kyle Williams recovered the Josh Hill fumble in the first quarter that stopped another Saints drive short of the end zone.
Jerry Hughes left the game in the first half with a shin injury but he didn't do too much while healthy.
Shaq Lawson knocked down a pass from Brees in the first quarter he almost picked it off. He also had a tackle for loss. May have had the best game of any defender but that wasn't saying much in this one.
Adolphus Washington was called for a neutral zone infraction and was blown off the ball with the rest of the line.
Cedric Thornton was blown off the line on a 4th and 1 run by Ingram for 25 yards. Did get a tackle for loss in the fourth quarter.
Grade F-: Terrible tackling and just badly blown off the line.

Linebackers:

Preston Brown was called for a pass interference in the end zone.
Lorenzo Alexander got called for a facemask penalty that negated a third down stop. Made a nice tackle in the gaps of Kumara.
Ramon Humber was called for a neutral zone infraction that gave the Saints a free first down in their second drive but made up for it by forcing a fumble near the goal line that the Bills recovered. He had 10 tackles.
Grade F-: Didn't pass cover well and were destroyed on the ground.

Secondary:

Tre'Davious White was the best cover corner they had in this game.
Shareece White got the start for the injured E.J. Gaines. He had good coverage on Thomas but was beaten for a long pass in the third quarter.
Leonard Johnson was beaten badly for a 28 yard third down conversion to Michael Thomas. He was bad in coverage most of the game.
Micah Hyde had 8 tackles.
Jordan Poyer had 10 tackles.
Grade D: Big holes in the middle of the defense but the running game made the passing game an afterthought.

Special Teams:

Colton Schmidt had six punts for a 42.2 yard net and one inside the 20.
Steve Hauschka hit his only kicks, a 37 yard field goal and an extra point.
Brandon Tate returned three kicks for a 21 yard average.
Coverage Units .
Grade : .

Coaching:

Sean McDermott had his team quit on him as they were just beat up physically.
Rick Dennison had an awful gameplan. He used Tolbert too often and showed no creativity or answers.
Leslie Frazier didn't have his unit ready either as they got manhandled.
Grade F-: Two blowout losses in a row is a pattern.
