Henson To Bills Seems Remote
Henson Possibilty Fading: ESPN.com is reporting that the Bills are intrigued and interested in Drew Henson but it now appears like the possibility of a deal is fading. The Bills apparently have begun exploring a deal for Henson but it seems like Henson's people haven't been very cooperative. The Bills want to see if they can come to some sort of contract agreement before bringing Henson back to Buffalo for another workout. Both sides say that doesn't appear likely now. Donahoe told ESPN.com that they think they can make a deal with Houston but that Henson's demand to be paid like a first rounder is not possible since he was taken in the sixth round.

Back To Work: The coaching staff is back to work at One Bills Drive after the scouting combine in Indianapolis came to a close this week. The coaches are finishing their evaluation of the players currently on the roster as they get set for the start of free agency on Wednesday. Before then, the Bills will have to make a decision about the future of all-pro guard Ruben Brown. As we reported earlier this week, Brown wants very badly to stay in Buffalo and is willing to take a pay cut. If he is still on the roster on Wednesday he is due a $1.8 Million bonus that the Bills may not want to pay. Brown's agent says he expects the Bills to make a decison about his client's future by Monday.

Salary Cap Update: Reports on the Bills salary cap situation varies. Our latest figures have them around $8 Million under the cap. The team will need money to tender offers to their restricted and exclusive rights free agents. We have updated our salary cap page, with the latest cap figures on key players. Keep in mind these estimates are approximations in most cases, the final cap figures will vary a bit.
Draft Needs: It is apparent that the Bills need help at all positions except Running Back and Linebacker. The team does not expect to be as active in free agency as they were last year but expect some of these needs to still be filled via trade or free agency. What position do you think the Bills should target on draft day? That is our latest poll question on our homepage.

Bills Lead Henson Race? The Bills are admitting their interest in Drew Henson and some reports say they are may be leading the race to get him. The Bills and Texans talked over the weekend at the scouting combine and the Bills are looking to bring him in for a visit or go to him. If he does workout for Buffalo it means the Bills would have agreed to the broad trade parameters set by the Texans. Those parameters are reportedly a conditional 2nd or 3rd rounder next year that could become a first rounder based on incentives met. Tom Donahoe has said all along that the team is interested in grooming a young quarterback for the future and feel Henson potentially can be that quarterback.
