Bills Continue Chase For Turner

ESPN Rips Bills; Speculates Wilson Selling: ESPN put the Bills on the clock in today's Sportscenter episode. Chris Mortensen, Darren Woodson, and Mel Kiper took turns ripping the Bills for all their offseason rules. Woodson said getting rid of a great player like McGahee will hurt. Mortensen went as far to say that he has heard rumblings that Ralph Wilson was getting ready to sell the team and is not spending money because of it. They glossed over in three seconds the money they spent on the offensive line. They waxed poetic about London Fletcher and Takeo Spikes without mentioning that Spikes is coming off a devastating injury and Fletcher wasn't the type of attacking linebacker the team needs. Not a word on the off the field issues of McGahee and the fact that he hasn't been great like Woodson says. In the end, Kiper predicted the team would take Patrick Willis in the first round and Ohio State RB Antonio Pittman in round two. He also said the team was heading in a direction that would have them picking at the top of next year's draft.

Turner Visits Today: After having his scheduled visit delayed, Chargers restricted free agent RB Michael Turner arrived at One Bills Drive today to visit with the Bills. The Titans seem to be the frontrunner for his services and have already begun contract talks with the back. A trade would have to be worked out with the Chargers for any team that wants Turner unless they tender him an offer and are prepared to give up a first and third round pick.

Schedule Release Delayed: The regular season schedule was due to be released today but has been delayed. A report says the league is trying to finalize TV packages and has a little more work to do on it. No new date has been set for the schedule release but it may happen as early as next week and is expected to happen no later then April 19th.

Visit Postponed: Michael Turner's anticipated visit to Buffalo today was postponed because of travel issues. He is expected to reschedule the trip but the exact date is unknown at this time. It is expected to be in the next week or so.

Turner Scheduled To Visit: The agent for Michael Turner said the running back is expected to visit with the Bills. It appears the Titans are the front runners for his services with the Bills second. He has already visited Tennessee and they have begun contract negotiations with him. This is a two stage process with a new deal needed for Turner then compensation must be made to San Diego. At this point they are asking for the tender offer for the restricted free agent, a first and third round pick but they is room for negotiation.

Gandy A Cardinal: Mike Gandy is officially an ex-Bill. He has signed a three year deal with the Arizona Cardinals. Gandy struggled at left tackle last year before being moved to guard. He had moderate success at that position but was one of the odd men out when the Bills went on an offensive line spending spree at the beginning of free agency. Front Office Page
