Bills Sign Three For Europe

Bills Likely Out Of London Game: It appears the Bills dodged a bullet and likely won't be playing in London this year. As we reported on Friday, it appears Miami will be the home team in the overseas game and it the Giants are the leading contender to be the away team with the Bills also a possibility. The N.Y. Daily News reports it is unlikely the Bills will be chosen because the Giants are a higher profile team. The league has said the teams won't be decided based on high profile teams though leaving the Bills still alive to play in this game. We will know for sure later in the week.

Bills Have 13 Free Agents: We have launched our 2007 edition of our exclusive Front Office Page! We take a look at all nine unrestricted and four restricted free agents and what we think the Bills will and should do with them. This will be the one stop page all offseason to look at all the player moves, free agent signings, and contract details. Coming soon will be our 2007 salary cap page, with a list of player cap figures. The team is currently around $40 Million under the cap giving them ample money to resign some of their own free agents although they will be fiscally responsible with the revenue sharing plan in flux. Bills May Be Road Team In London: CBS Sportsline is reporting that the Miami Dolphins will be "hosting" the overseas game this year. As we reported earlier in the week the Bills were one of six finalists to host a game next year in London or Germany. The report says the game will be in London with Miami being the home team. The Bills are not totally off the hook yet however, as it is being reported that the Bills and Giants are the finalists to be the road team in the game but sources told CBS Sportsline that the league is leaning towards a Giants-Dolphins matchup in Wembley Stadium. London will be officially announced as the site next week, and the teams participating will be announced Super Bowl week.

Bills Sign Three For Europe: The Bills have signed three players and allocated all of them to Europe. P Josh Brazen and WR Chris Denney were on the roster last offseason. Another receiver, Daunta Peterson was also signed. Denney is a receiver with good size and hands who didn't get much of a chance to make the team last year. Peterson is a former division III standout with great speed. Look for our new 2007 front office page this weekend, it will have a list of the newest Bills as well as free agent news.

Goodell, Schumer Have Good Meeting: Yesterday's meeting between Commissioner Roger Goodell and Senator Chuck Schumer was a positive one according to the participants. Goodell assured Schumer that even if the qualifying committee doesn't come up with a good revenue sharing plan he will step in and try to defend small market teams because they are important to the NFL. He also said he will try to make sure that the Bills don't have too many late season home games since the four late season games last year were not soldout.

McGahee Under Fire: Willis McGahee is under fire from fans after comments he made to Penthouse Magazine. He said if a team was going to be put in Toronto they should just move the Bills there. He said it's a beautiful place and the case should be closed, the Bills eventually should go to that city. McGahee did say he owes a lot to the Bills for drafting him and he does his best to help them win. He is also in hot water for his third paternity suit in two years. There has been an outcry from some fans who have said that the Bills should trade McGahee for his comments. What do you think? Take our poll on our homepage.

Reed, Thomas Hall Finalists: Thurman Thomas and Andre Reed are among 17 finalists to be in the Hall of Fame class for 2007. Also on the list are Bruce Matthews, Paul Tagliabue, and Michael Irvin. The class will be announced on Saturday February 3rd.

Schumer, Goodell Meet: Senator Chuck Schumer is meeting with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell today to discuss the revenue sharing plan. Schumer said this is a continuation of the efforts to keep small market teams viable in today's NFL. He will be looking for reassurances that the Bills get a good deal out of the new agreement. He had met with Paul Tagliabue before he left the position. Also on the agenda is the NFL blackout rule, the finances of the Bills, and the qualifying committee deliberations and decisions.

Bills May Host Europe Game: The Bills are one of six teams to be named finalists to play one of their home games in Europe in 2007. The other possible "hosts" are San Francisco, Seattle, Miami, Kansas City, and New Orleans. The site of the game in Europe will be announced on January 15th, it will be either Germany or England. The two team competing will be announced Super Bowl week. A home game in Europe will put a team at a distinct disadvantage, not only do they have to travel overseas for a game, they lose a home game in their own stadium. The Bills released a statement saying they would approve if the league moves a home game saying "the Bills certainly are supportive of the international regular-season game initiative". They went on to say "it would be great recognition for our city in an international forum." The Bills may be being considered because of four non sellouts this year.

Moorman Honored Again: Brian Moorman received another honor yesterday. He was the lone Bill named to the AP All-Pro team. The list is of the top players in the league at each position and combines the conferences, so only one punter was named. He received 34 of a possible 50 votes. It is his second consecutive year on the first team. Aaron Schobel was voted to the 2nd team with 14 sacks.
