NEWS ARCHIVES - MAY 14TH - MAY 20TH, 2007 PREVIOUS WEEK

Bills Sign Two Players

OTAs To Start: Now that the rookie minicamp is behind them, the team will gather rookies and veterans for the organized team activities. These are informal workouts that are not mandatory and will start Tuesday. They usually run four days a week for about a month with other minicamps sprinkled in. There is a voluntary mini camp later this month and a mandatory one in mid June. Most of the players are expected to take part in the OTAs even though it is voluntary.

Bills Sign Two: The weekend tryouts during the rookie minicamp was successful for the team as they have signed two of the 15 players they looked at. Former Orchard Park High School star Jon Corto is the newest safety on the team. They also signed LB Larry Edwards. Corto played linebacker last year and finished with 104 tackles for Division 1-AA Sacred Heart. Edwards is an outside linebacker who led North Carolina in tackles as a junior. Depth Chart

Rookies Get Tour: A day after finishing up their first minicamp, the rookies got a guided bus tour of some of the landmarks of the city of Buffalo yesterday. It was designed to get them a look at more than just the hotel and the stadium so they can learn the good things about the city. They visited New Era Cap Company among other landmarks.

Bills Look At DT: The Bills continue to look to improve their team and they brought in a veteran free agent defensive tackle for a look yesterday. Sam Rayburn is a four year veteran who has spent his whole career with the Eagles after signing as an undrafted free agent. He was released last week and had a career high 46 tackles and six sacks in 2004. He played as part of a rotation that included new Bill Darwin Walker.

Rookie Camp Wraps: The Bills wrapped up what they are calling a successful three day rookie minicamp yesterday. It was an unusual camp for Dick Jauron as he had no veterans at all in camp but brought in 15 unsigned players for a look to go along with the draft picks and undrafted signees. Jim Kelly was a visitor on Monday as he chatted with former teammate Alex Van Pelt while watching one of two sessions yesterday. Marshawn Lynch and Dwayne Wright missed the afternoon workout due to graduation requirements. According to the Bills official website one player that shined was rookie free agent signee WR from Florida Jemalle Cornelius. Trent Edwards also looked sharp in the camp with his accuracy on the short and intermediate passes as the team spent a lot of time throwing to the backs out of the backfield. Jauron called the camp really good since they were able to get to know the young players and let them know what is expected of them.
