Bills Sign Free Agent TE Anderson

Should Bills Look At Davis? Now that the Bills have lost out on Bryant Johnson, what's next at the wide receiver spot? One name that keeps popping up in rumors is Chicago restricted free agent Rashied Davis. A report out of Chicago says the Bills, Dolphins, Chiefs, and Seahawks are interested in him. The Bears could match any offer he gets but would get no compensation if they didn't match an offer for the former Arena league player.

Johnson Says Money Was The Factor: Bryant Johnson was on Sirius NFL Radio this afternoon and said that he thought he would get a deal done with the Bills but it came down to money. He said the offer from Buffalo wasn't good enough and they countered by trying to get a shorter deal but the Bills didn't want to do that. He thought Buffalo would have been a good fit but he's happy to go to San Francisco on a one year deal.

Bills Lose Out On Johnson: The Bryant Johnson saga is over. ESPN.com is reporting that free agent wide receiver has signed a one year deal with San Francisco. The Bills entertained Johnson two weeks ago and there appeared to be mutual interest but the two sides couldn't come to terms on a deal. What do you think the Bills should do next? Take our poll on our homepage and let us know!

Hall, James Would Add Depth: The two free agents the Bills brought in for a visit yesterday are not huge names (they aren't any on the market anymore). They would fill depth needs on defense however as James (formerly Will Peterson) would add to a weak secondary corps. The problem is he's an outside guy and they need a nickel corner. James Hall would fill the spot used by Anthony Hargrove last year. He would be part of the 2nd wave of defensive ends and be used to try and get the team's sack numbers up. It was the first vist for both players and they both said they have other visits in the works. They both left town without a contract. Depth Chart.

James Visits: As we reported yesterday, Eagles free agent cornerback William James had a visit scheduled to Buffalo. The Bills confirmed he was the 2nd visitor today along with DE James Hall. James was excited for the opportunity to visit Buffalo. The Bills have a need for depth at the corner position after losing Jason Webster in free agency and releasing Kiwaukee Thomas and Dematrius Butler.

Hall In For Visit: The Bills have confirmed that free agent DE James Hall is in town today for a visit. The eight year veteran was released by the Rams earlier this month and would probably be used as a siutational pass rusher. He has had 7½ sacks the past two seasons which were marred by injuries.

Stamer Visits Tennessee: Free agent LB Josh Stamer took a visit to Tennessee yesterday. Stamer spoke to a newspaper earlier in the offseason and indicated it is time for him to move on after five years in Buffalo. Stamer has been a special teams standout for the Bills but wants to develop as a defensive player as well.

Bucs Interested In Johnson: KFFL is reporting that free agent WR Bryant Johnson is now looking at Tampa Bay as a possible destination. They were always one of the team's mentioned as a possible spot for him. The Bills had a visit with him two weeks ago and their has been mutual interest but no deal has been made.

James Visiting? KFFL is reporting that Eagles free agent corner William James will be in for a visit with the Bills today. The Ravens are also reportedly interested in James who is not expected to return to Philly with the recent signing of Asante Samuel. James is going into his eight season in the league, spending his first five years with the Giants. He has six career interceptions and had six starts last year for the Eagles.

Bills Sign Anderson: The Bills made a move to bolster their tight end corps today. They signed free agent Courtney Anderson to an undisclosed deal. Anderson visited last week and had no other visits planned as he said he wanted to end up in Buffalo which he considered a great organization. He fills the need of a tall tight end receiving threat. The 6'6" 270 pounder is among the tallest tight ends in the league. He played wide receiver his first two years in college. He was a 7th round pick of the Raiders in 2004 and had his two best years in 2005 and 2006 as he combined for 49 catches in those two seasons. His career took a downturn after that as he played in two games with Detroit and two games with Atlanta last season. Depth Chart.

McCree Signs With Denver: Safety Marlon McCree made up his mind late yesterday and has decided to sign with the Denver Broncos. It was reportedly down to the Bills and Broncos for McCree's services. The Bills were looking for veteran leadership at a position that is still very young.
