Stroud, Two Others Released
New Playing Surface: After a couple of weeks of speculation the Bills have confirmed that they will be putting in a new turf playing surface at Ralph Wilson Stadium. The old surface is 8 years old and has come to the end of its life expectency. Only the carpet is being replaced as the drainage and asphalt sub-base are fine. The county will pay for the majority of the project based on the 1998 lease agreement that calls for ongoing repairs to the stadium. It is part of the $2.8 Million set aside this year for projects at the Ralph.

Stroud Released: the Bills have announced that they have released Marcus Stroud. He struggled in fitting in at defensive end in the team's new 3-4 scheme. Stroud played three years for the Bills after being acquired in a trade with Jacksonville and was very successful in the middle of the 4-3 defense recording 7½ sacks while with the Bills. Lease Discussions: WGRZ is reporting that Erie County and the Bills have had preliminary discussion on a new lease agreement. The current lease expires before the 2013 season. County Executive Chris Collins says he's firmly convinced the Bills will remain in Buffalo and admitted to the discussions. He said serious talks won't begin until after a CBA is reached and it is possible a second regular season game goes to Toronto. That is assuming there is an 18 game season leaving 7 home games in Orchard Park. The Bills told WGRZ is a statement that they are concentrating on the labor situation but look forward to discussing a new lease once that is settled.

QB In Round 1? Let the speculation begin! Now that the Super Bowl is past us and there is no sign that free agency will start anytime soon because of the labor situation, everyone's attention turns to the draft. The Bills pick third overall in the first round and everyone wonders if they will take a quarterback. Many feel they need to take the best defensive player on the board but many speculate that a quarterback is what they should pick. Chan Gailey has endorsed Ryan Fitzpatrick but Buddy Nix did say a QB will likely be taken at some point. The mock drafts have started. Paul Prisco of cbssports.com has them taking Blaine Gabbert. Pat Kirwan and Vic Carucci of NFL.com both say the Bills are very high on Cam Newton. We won't know what will happen for two and a half months but tell us what you think they should do by taking the poll on our homepage.

Two Linebackers Released: The Bills remained busy today by releasing two linebackers. Pierre Woods and Mike Balogun are no longer on the team. Woods was claimed off of waivers from New England in early December and appeared late in the season for the Bills injury riddled unit. Balogun was signed in early November and saw limited action. Corto Agrees To Extension: The Bills announced today that Jon Corto has agreed to a contract extension. The Orchard Park native has been a special teams standout with the team but rarely sees the field at his strong safety position. He is a three year veteran and would have been a restricted free agent under the old CBA. Front Office Page.

New Uniforms: The Bills announced today that they will have new uniforms for the 2011 season. They will unveil them at a fan event later this year. The team sent an email to season ticket holders saying the new uniforms will incorporate the charging Buffalo logo and the storied history of the franchise. Teams need to get approval from the league at least a year in advance to change uniforms so this must have been in the works for a while. Most fans have never warmed up to the current uniforms which were first used in 2002.
