Bills Add LB: The Bills have kept busy while being snowed in at One Bills Drive. They have signed their third player of the day. ESPN reports the team has signed free agent LB Keith Rivers to a two year deal worth $5 Million. The six year veteran is the second former first round draft pick to sign with the Bills today along with Chris Williams. He played outside linebacker for the Giants the past two years.
Bills Sign Graham: The Bills have reached an agreement on a four year deal with free agent cornerback and Buffalo native Corey Graham. The deal is reportedly worth $16 Million but incentives based on playing time can push that to $19 Million. He provides depth at the position and becomes a core special teams player. New defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz definitely targeted the corner spot for help in free agency and he will likely challenge Leodis McKelvin and Nickell Robey for playing time. He played with the Ravens the past two season a saw a good amount of time at corner but is known more for his special teams play. He made the Pro Bowl on special teams in 2011 when he was with the Bears. His signing likely means they won't be reaching a deal with Nolan Carroll who was in for a visit today. Depth Chart.
Bills Sign Guard: The Bills are hosting two free agents today in the midst of a blizzard in Western New York and have signed one of them. Former Rams guard Chris Williams agreed to a four year deal with the Bills worth a reported $13.5 Million with $5.5 Million guaranteed according to Adam Schefter. He started all 16 games at left guard last year for St. Louis and was a first round draft pick of the Bears in 2008. He has 36 career starts at guard and 18 at tackle. He likely will move right in to the starting spot at left guard which was a huge hole for the Bills or become an important swing man along the line. Free agent CB Nolan Carroll is also in town and has 26 starts in four seasons in Miami. He is a big, physical corner who would bring needed depth to the position. Depth Chart.
Byrd To The Big Easy: Agent Eugene Parker just needed one partner to give Jairus Byrd the $9 Million a year he was looking for. He found an unlikely suitor in the New Orleans Saints. Just when it looked like the free agent safety market was drying up the cap strapped Saints came calling. Byrd went for a visit and quickly signed a six year deal worth a reported $54 Million with $28 Million guaranteed according to Adam Schefter. In other Bills free agent news, Scott Chandler reportedly is visiting with the Lions. Front Office Page.

Carpenter Re-Signs: The Bills have locked up one of their unrestricted free agents as they have announced that they have re-signed Dan Carpenter. It is reportedly a four year deal. They couldn't get a deal done until today since he played under a one year veteran minimum contract last year. He had a fantastic year after being signed days before the opener hitting 33 of 36 field goals. This move was speculated earlier in the day when he reportedly boarded a flight to Buffalo.
Kolb Released: The Bills announced they have released Kevin Kolb. He was due to receive a $1 Million roster bonus on Thursday so the move is not a surprise as he likely has played his last football game after suffering too many concussions. He failed his physical.
Bills Re-Sign Caussin: The Bills locked up a restricted free agent minutes before the free agency period opened. They re-signed TE Mike Caussin who missed last season with a torn ACL. The move locks up all of their free agents that are not unrestricted. All exclusive rights free agents were tendered last week. Front Office Page.
Free Agency Opens Today: Today is like Christmas Day in the NFL as the free agency period begins at 4pm this afternoon. Expect the signings to come fast and furious as there was a three day negotiating period that began Saturday. Expect Jairus Byrd to have a new team rather quickly. The Bills are also poised to possibly lose Scott Chandler and Dan Carpenter as well. The team would like to keep Carpenter but have been unable to negotiate a deal before today because he played under a one year veteran minimum contract last year. There has been very little rumblings about who the Bills are after on the open market so far.
