Bills Release Several Players To Get Cap Relief
Glenn Signs Tender: Cordy Glenn wasted little time as he signed his contract tender today. His agency tweeted a picture of him signing it. This is likely a positive sign that Glenn isn't upset over being tagged and may give fans optimism that a longterm deal will get worked out before the July 15th deadline.
McKelvin Cut: The Bills offically announced that they have released Leodis McKelvin. The move saved the Bills $3.9 Million in cap dollars. He was in the final year of his contract and said he was open to a pay cut. Ian Rapoport was the first to report the release and his agent confirmed it to John Warrow of the Associated Press. This move combined with the restructure of Corey Graham's deal opens up even more cap room to tender restricted free agents and possibly structure a deal for Richie Incognito.
Graham Restructured: The Bills made more room under the salary cap yesterday by restructuring the contract of Corey Graham. It was a move that was expected so the team can open up more money to tender or sign their restricted free agents and try to get a deal done with Richie Incognito. He was owed $6.35 million in base salary over the final two seasons of his contract and had a cap figure of $4.6 Million this year. Some of that money was likely converted to a signing bonus to lower that figure.

Whaley On WGR: GM Doug Whaley was on WGR this morning and said, they are working diligently to get Richie Incognito signed before he hits the open market on March 9th. Conversations are ongoing and he is up there need the top of their priority list. They want to keep the number one rushing unit together. They believe that Seantrel Henderson will be ready for camp as they got some positive news on his battle with his health issues. On Tyrod Taylor he reiterated that they would like to do a deal if it made sense for both sides but it would be a luxury to get it done since he's still under contract but added everyone loves luxuries. He doesn't feel that Taylor will have any issues going into the final year of his current deal. The GM reiterated that they definitely will add a quarterback either through the draft or free agency since they have two QBs going into their final year of their contracts and said that EJ Manuel is in their plans for next season. They will look to get some of their restricted free agents signed before they have to tender them. The plan is to get as many as the six RFAs back as possible. On Corbin Bryant in particular he said they are working diligently to get his back. Whaley said the defense will look different this year as it will be more of a traditional 3-4 but they are in a nickel or dime more than half the time. The medical staff as fully cleared Aaron Williams to play and he would have played if the team made the playoffs.
Season Ticket Renewal Record: The Bills announced yesterday, via their website and twitter feed, that they have over 52,000 season ticket renewals which is the most they have ever had at this point in the year. The Bills currently have a wait list for fans looks to purchase outdoor non-club seats.

Big Cut Day In Buffalo: The Bills are trying to get themselves out of salary cap jail today in a big way. The Bills have released Mario Williams, Kraig Urbik, Boobie Dixon, and have decided not to tender RFA MarQuies Gray. All of this was to get them under the cap to do what they have to. One of those things they have already done as they have placed the non exclusive franchise tender on Cordy Glenn putting $13.706 Million on the cap. The release of Mario along saved $12.9 Million. According to Joe Buscaglia of WKBW the moves they have made clears just under $24 Million with more than half going to Glenn and money needed to sign rookies and tender the remaining six RFAs if they chose to do so. Each RFA tender will cost approximately $1.6 Million on the cap so work still needs to be done especially if they hope to get Richie Incognito and/or Nigel Bradham resigned.
Report Incognito Talks Not Going Well: Pro Football Talk reports that the Bills are frustrated with negotiations on a new contract for soon to be unrestricted free agent Richie Incognito. The Bills reportedly want him to give them a hometown discount and sign for less money as a reward for the team that took a chance on him when nobody else would. Initial contract talks have not gone well as it appears Incognito may be reluctant to do so. One can't blame the soon to be 33 year old who knows this is likely his last chance at a big pay day. Rex Ryan told reporters at the combine that he's trying and giving it his best in recruiting Incognito to return to Buffalo. He will be free to negotiate with other teams on Monday and can sign with anyone on March 9th.
Tag Day: The Bills have until 4pm to decide whether or not they will place a franchise or transition tag on Cordy Glenn or anyone else for that matter. If they can't come to a longterm deal by the deadline it is fully expected they will tag Glenn. The $13.706 million tag figure will immediately be charged to the Bills 2016 cap but they have until March 9th to get under the cap. They are currently around $8 Million under so they will need to free up more cap space by the start of the league year next week if they tag Glenn and don't reach a longterm deal by the 9th. To get under the cap the long awaited release of Mario Williams could happen by next week. That move would free up $12.9 Million. They could also possibly get under the cap by restructuring a few contracts, the most likely candidates are Leodis McKelvin, Corey Graham, and Kyle Williams. They could place a transition tag on Glenn that would cost $11.902 million on the cap but the team would not get any compensation if they didn't match an offer for him.
