Wood Finally Released: John Wawrow of the Associated Press was the first to report that the Bills have finally released Eric Wood after reportedly reaching an injury settlement. Doing it a day before June 1st makes the entire cap hit on this year's book instead of it being spread out over two years. He was expected to count $8.875 million against the salary cap in 2018 had he played, but that figure will now be $10.391 million according to the Buffalo News. The Bills reportedly have over $46 Million in dead money on their cap now that is twice as much as any other team. The good news is they clear it all now and will have lots of cap space next year.
Thomas Surgery: The Bills will be without TE Logan Thomas for the rest of the spring workouts after he underwent knee surgery. It is unknown if the injury has a chance to linger into training camp.
Daboll Press Conferences: New offensive coordinator Brian Daboll and returning defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier addressed the media today before practice. Daboll was up first and said about Josh Allen that he's a mature guy and he's handled his responsibilities the right way, listens to everyone, and corrects his mistakes. He's still running with the threes at this time. The coach said they are still putting in the offense and it is ever changing in today's NFL. He talked about being raised in Western New York and loving this team and being excited to be here. He said they need to have a variety in everything they do and need an expansive playbook. Their job is to see what players do, go back and look at it, and make the needed adjustments. He wouldn't call where players are lining up right now a depth chart, he called it a rep chart. He said everyone is kind've mixed together at this point as they provide them a good base so they can understand the entire system.
Frazier Presser: Leslie Frazier followed Daboll and said he is pleased with the progress they have made up to this point but there is a lot of work to be done and a lot of practices to go but they are on pace at this time. On Tremaine Edwards he thinks he's done a great job the way he has come in and meshed with his teammates. He feels he's handled the big responsibility of middle linebacker very well so far especially as a rookie. It will be an ongoing learning curve as everyone gels together as a defense. He likes how Edwards has been able to take what he learned in the classroom and use it on the field similiar to what Tre'Davious White did last year as a rookie. He likes the attitude that Shaq Lawson has come in with and feels he's in a good frame of mind. On Harrison Phillips he called him extremely talented and bright and they have high hopes for him. Having Kyle Williams in the room is a plus for Phillips.
Week 2 Of OTAs Wraps: The Bills are wrapping up their second of three weeks of organized team activities today in Orchard Park. The media will be allowed at today's practice session and will speak with both the offensive and defensive coordinators as well as some players.
