Free Agency Winding Down As Attention Turns To Draft
Sunday March 25, 2018
Another Gaines DB: The Bills lost one defensive back named Gaines in free agency and now they are looking at another by the same name in the same position. The team reportedly is bringing in former Chiefs DB Philip Gaines. He has been a sometimes starter in Kansas City. The Bills need more defensive back help as they have little depth at the position with just four players on the depth chart. Last year's nickel corner Leonard Johnson still on the free agent market.

No Charges For Jones: Prosecutors have decided not to bring charges against Zay Jones for his bloody, naked incident on Monday night. They officially declined the case because of insufficient evidence. While he is off the hook from a legal standpoint the NFL can still decide to discipline him.
Bills Lose Thompson: The Bills lost their fourth unrestricted free agent as Deonte Thompson signed with the Cowboys after a free agent visit. You would think the Bills wanted him back after the success he had last season when he came over from Chicago. The Bills are in desperate need to fill depth at the wide receiver position.

Bills Add OL Depth: The Bills may be low on money according to Brandon Beane but it didn't stop them from adding depth to the offensive line by signing Marshall Newhouse and Russell Bodine. They were two of four players who came in for free agent visits. Newhouse is a right tackle that comes from Oakland. He agreed to a one year deal. Bodine is a center from Cincinnati who signed a two year deal. He had mix success with the Bengals but has been a starter for all four years in the league. He was a 4th round draft pick in 2014. He has started all 64 games of his career and is the second longest streak at center currently in the NFL. He will compete with Ryan Groy for the starting center job. Newhouse has been in the league for 8 seasons and had 14 starts at right tackle for the Raiders last year. He was released last week. He was a two year starter for the Giants in 2015 and 2016. He also played for the Bengals and Packers in his career. LB Kevin Minter came in for a visit today. He was most recently with the Benglas. The team also hosted LB Will Compton over the weekend as they look to fill the hole made when Preston Brown signed with the Bengals. Depth Chart. Front Office Page.
