Week 17: Bills vs. Jets
at
Sunday, Dec. 30th

Another season ends in depressing fashion as the Bills close out the season in a battle of the two worst teams in the AFC East. A Bills win drags the Jets into last place with them, a loss leaves Buffalo with the cellar all to themselves.

INJURY UPDATE
The Bills limp into the season finale with several big injuries. Scott Chandler is the latest player to go on injured reserve after he tore his ACL last week. Da'Norris Searcy saw his season end a week early with a groin injury. Chris White missed last week's game with a hamstring and thumb injury. Marcus Easley has a shot at returning for the finale after missing last week's game with a hamstring injury. Dorin Dickerson should play after tests came out negative on his leg injury. He was carted off against Miami. Mark Anderson has been sidelined for over two months with a torn meniscus. He was active two weeks ago but did not play. He would like to play in the finale but that is up in the air right now. Leodis McKelvin, Arthur Moats, and Donald Jones are among the recent players added to injured reserve.
The Jets will be without DE Muhammad Wilkerson who suffered a concussion in the loss to the Chargers. They may be without TE Dustin Keller again, he missed last week's game with an ankle injury. DB Aaron Berry was sidelined against San Diego with a hamstring injury and remains sidelined. DL Ricky Sapp looks to come back from an ankle injury. Former Bill DB Ellis Lankster left the loss to the Chargers with a concussion and will likely sit out the finale. S LaRon Landry is missing practices with heel and hamstring injuries.
Check out our Bills Daily Injury Page throughout the week for the latest updates on the injured players.
KEY MATCHUPS
CB Stephon Gilmore vs. WR Jeremy Kerley: Gilmore always locks up with the opponent's top receiver. This week that is Kerley who has far and away the best stats of any Jet receivers in his second year.
DE Mario Williams vs. RT Austin Howard: Williams should want to finish a very uneven season on a high note. Howard is a third year player who has started every game this year.
WR Stevie Johnson vs. DB Antonio Cromartie: With Darelle Revis out Johnson will have to wait to continue his rivalry with him. Instead he goes against another star corner in Cromartie. Johnson is 65 yards from his third straight 1,000 yard season. It is a goal he would love to reach.
KEYS TO THE GAME
1. Play For Pride: This game will see how much pride this team has since that is all they have to play for. Will they run for the bus or battle hard to match last year's pathetic 6-10 record?
2. Play Physical: The Bills have been beaten down physically on both sides of the line lately. They need to make a statement in the final game by playing physical and winning the battle in the trenches.
3. Run To Victory: The key to winning is putting the ball in the hands of their best player and that is C.J. Spiller. Give it to him early and often and that could be the recipe for a victory.
BILLS DAILY PREDICTION
Which team will be focused on earning their paycheck and playing to win and which team will run for the bus? For as disappointing a season it has been in Buffalo, the Jets season may even be more of a disappointment. They may have quit more than the Bills and I think Buffalo will win and hurt their draft pick status:
Bills 17, Jets 10
Season Prediction Record: (10-5)
Season Record Against The Spread: (8-7)
