Who Helped Themselves: Ryan Fitzpatrick and Vince Young both helped themselves with their performance last night. Fitz completed 8 of 11 passes including a touchdown pass to Donald Jones who likely wrapped up the number two receiver job with his performance. Young was 8 of 14 for a team high 123 yards. Fred Jackson looked like his old self with a nice 20 yard run and three catches. Stephon Gilmore had a nice pass breakup in the end zone and T.J. Graham had the big 64 yard catch on a bomb from Young to solidify his spot in the lineup.
Who Hurt Themselves: Tyler Thigpen was awful as he had an interception returned for a touchdown and fell behind Young in the battle for the number two spot. Cordy Glenn struggled getting called for two penalties. Kelvin Sheppard was caught out of position a couple of times but got plenty of playing time with the first and second units. C.J. Spiller touched the ball three times for -8 yards.
Bills Lose To Vikings 36-14: The Bills struggled for the second straight preseason game in a 36-14 loss to Minnesota. The starting defense gave up an 80 yard touchdown drive on their opening possession and a field goal on Minnesota's second possession. The Vikings did not punt in the first half as they had drives end in a missed field goal and one end in a fumble. Kicker Blair Walsh hit five field goals in all for the Vikings. The Bills starting offense ran 18 plays in four series. Punting three times but also connecting on a 61 yard touchdown drive in five plays including a 31 yard catch and run for a score by Donald Jones. The Bills started the second half well as Vince Young hit T.J. Graham for a 64 yard bomb on the first play after intermission setting up a Tashard Choice one yard TD plunge. 7th round pick Audie Cole intercepted passes on back to back plays from two different quarterbacks late in the game and returned them both for a touchdown. Tyler Thigpen and Brad Smith were the victims. Check back later as we right who helped themselves and who hurt themselves.

Wood, Pears To Play: Chan Gailey told the team's website that both Eric Wood and Erik Pears will play tonight against Minnesota. Both players were given the all clear to play and will likely see about 10 snaps. It had been thought that Wood would not play until the third preseason game while Gailey held out hope that Pears would be play tonight and that is going to happen.
Bills Looking For Improvement: The Bills take on the Vikings at 8pm tonight looking for improvement from a poor offensive performance in their preseason opener against Washington. The starters are expected to get 20 plays and there should be a concentration on running the football after the first team offense didn't run it once last week. Interesting battles to watch will be the number two quarterback race, the battle for linebacker spots, and the battle for the final wide receiver slot.

Shawne Merriman got a day off but did have his knee wrapped. Chan Gailey said they don't plan on filling the open roster spot created when they released Mike Jasper.
