Bills Wrap Up OTAs
OTAs Wrap Up: The Bills wrapped up their organized team activities. Friday they had their 10th and final practice over a three week span. The players get the week off before the only mandatory minicamp of the offseason runs next week between Tuesday and Thursday. While the players are off the coaches will take a look at the tapes again looking at the reps, performances, and results from the OTAs. They will do more game planning during the mandatory three day camp. On the final day, Da'Rick Rogers had a big day but stood over a fallen Ron Brooks and showboated after a catch. That drew the ire of Doug Marrone who immediately took the player aside and told him he can't act that way because that isn't being a pro or playing like a Buffalo Bill and it would have drawn a 15 yard penalty in a game. The Bills have been using officials throughout the OTAs in an effort to cutdown on penalties this year. The coach like the competitiveness of the players throughout the OTAs.

Roster Swap: The Bills made a roster move today signing WR DeMarco Sampson and released CB Vernon Kearney. Sampson was a 7th round pick of the Cardinals in 2011 and appeared in 12 games that year with three catches. He was released prior to the start of the 2012 season and spent time with the Eagles this offseason. Kearney was an undrafted free agent signing. Front Office Page.
Lee Smith Hurt: Lee Smith suffered an injury in the weight room and had his right leg in a walking boot. He will miss the rest of the offseason program but Doug Marrone said he is expected to be ready for training camp. Stevie Johnson got a rest yesterday after returning to practice this week. Jairus Byrd, Brandon Kauffman, Alan Branch, and Manny Lawson remain missing from all of the organized team activities. Byrd is in a contract dispute after being franchised. Kauffman is awaing Eastern Michigan's graduation while Branch and Lawson are missing for family related matters. All workouts are voluntary until the mandatory minicamp June 11th through 13th.

Kyle Williams said he expects to be ready to go by training camp as he recovers from his second heel surgery in as many years. Chandler Making Progress: Scott Chandler was on the field yesterday just five months removed from a torn ACL suffered last December in a game against Miami. It usually takes 7-9 months to recover from a torn ACL so Chandler seems ahead of schedule. He caught passes from Jeff Tuel and has been running around for the past few weeks before catching passes on the sidelines yesterday. He would like to get on the field for the June minicamp but he is unlikely to convince the team to let him practice. The ultimate goal is to get him ready to be full go for the start of training camp. The team wrapped up their second week of OTAs yesterday and the rookies got a tour of the Buffalo area after the workout. Injury Page.

The defense took center stage during yesterday's workout and got the best of the offense. That unit was working on more running drills especially in the red zone.

OTA Monday Notes: Doug Marrone said that week two of the OTAs is a tough one as players must learn to self motivate after the adrenaline of the first week is over. Robert Woods saw his first practice time among other rookies who missed last week's workouts because their graduation date hadn't happened yet. He noticed the quicker pace with the veterans onboard. EJ Manuel said he is doing a good job learning the offense and has spent around 6 or 7 hours a day with Marquise Goodman in the playbook. The two rookies are rooming together.
Owens Leaves: Free agent visitor Montell Owens took in practice and met with the coaching staff yesterday before leaving without signing a contract. He wants to see what else is out there. He was released by Jacksonville on Thursday and may be in high demand because of his special teams prowess.
