Bills Get Win Over Texans

Gameday Grades: The offense put together their most complete game of the year while the defense struggled at times before playing lights out down the stretch. Gameday Grades.

Bills Blitz: The Bills scored nine points in the final 1:53 to hold off the high flying Texans 30-21 at Ralph Wilson Stadium to keep their playoff hopes alive. Tyrod Taylor hit a wide open Charles Clay for a 40 yard touchdown pass to give the team the lead back after the Texans had tied it early in the fourth quarter. Nothing is ever easy for the Bills though as Dan Carpenter missed the extra point to give the Bills just a six point lead. The defense came up big though forcing a four and out than Carpenter clinched the game with a 36 yard field goal. The two teams traded touchdowns all game as Taylor threw three touchdown passes and ran for a fourth. He got the scoring started with a three yard touchdown to Sammy Watkins who also caught two 53 yard bombs in the game. He also hit Robert Woods for a score. They concentrated on the ground game though as LeSean McCoy ran for 112 yards on 21 carries and the Bills expertly kept J.J. Watt from running wild as he had only four tackles and no sacks in the game. The Bills led 21-13 at halftime as the Texans had a missed extra point as well. After a scoreless third quarter the Texans tied it on a DeAndre Hopkins 19 yard catch and a Jonathan Grimes two point conversion run. Bills Blitz.

Gilmore, Steward, Brooks Hurt: Stephon Gilmore left the game early in the 2nd half with a shoulder injury. He did not return. LeSean McCoy went into concussion protocol after taking a hard hit early in the second half. He went to the locker room and was cleared so he returned to action. Tony Steward went out of the game in the first half with a back injury and he didn't play the rest of the day. Ron Brooks suffered a shoulder injury of his own in the final seconds and was helped off the field. He said he felt it pop out and left with his left shoulder in a sling. He told Tim Graham he will have an MRI tomorrow. Injury Page.

Gameday Inactives: Four players are out once again because of injury. Nigel Bradham, Karlos Williams, and John Miller were ruled out on Friday while Seantrel Henderson was listed as doubtful but, as expected, he is inactive. Jordan Mills gets his 30th career start, and first as a Bill, in his place and gets the pleasure of facing J.J. Watt. Cyrus Kouandjio is active after being inactive for a month with Henderson sidelined with an illness. The healthy scratches are Josh Johnson, Mario Butler, and Lavar Edwards. For the Texans, G Brandon Brooks is a surprise inactive when he was taken away in an ambulance before the game with an undisclosed illness.

Beautiful Day In Buffalo: Buffalo has now broke a record for the latest in the season without measurable snow and there won't be any of the white stuff today that's for sure. A light covering of frost on the Ralph Wilson Stadium turf melted quickly with a gametime temperature will be 49°. The game will be played under cloudy skies with light winds out of the southwest at 7mph.

Gillislee Activated: As expected the Bills have activated Mike Gillislee from the practice squad to give them a third running back on the active roster for tomorrow's game. They released OL Gabe Ikard which means Ryan Groy has moved up the depth chart and will be activated for the first time as a Bill. Front Office Page.

4 Sit Again: For a third straight day Karlos Williams, John Miller, Seantrel Henderson, and Nigel Bradham sat out practice. Bradham, Williams, and Miller had been ruled out and Henderson is listed as doubtful but is not expected to play. Jordan Mills will start in his place. The team will be activating Mike Gillislee from the practice squad so they will have a third running back for the game on Sunday. They will need to clear a roster spot to make the move. Everyone else that is banged up should be ready to go on Sunday. Injury Page.

Thursday December 3, 2015

Injury Update: The only change to the Bills practice report today was that Bacarri Rambo was limited in practice after sitting out Wednesday with a knee injury. Mario Williams looks like he will return this week but will likely not be 100% according to Rex Ryan. The coach isn't optimistic about Karlos Williams playing. He will wait to see if he practices tomorrow before ruling him out. Seantrel Henderson was out for a second straight day with an illness and there is concern he won't be ready for the game on Sunday, Jordan Mills would start in his place. For the Texans, J.J. Watt didn't practice for a second straight day with a groin injury but Coach Bill O'Brien insists he will play on Sunday. Injury Page.

Texans Game Preview: The Bills playoff hopes are hanging by a thread and that last piece of string can break if they don't come up with a way to beat the red hot Houston Texans as the Bills return home for the first time in a month. Houston is the second opponent in a row to have a four game winning streak and feature a suffocating defense led by all world defensive end J.J. Watt. A Bills loss pretty much ends any hope of ending the 15 year postseason drought. Complete Preview.

Wednesday December 2, 2015

Mario Limited: Mario Williams did return to practice today along with Marcus Easley they both were limited. Bacarri Rambo sat out with a knee injury and Cordy Glenn was limited with his ongoing back issues. Seantrel Henderson sat out with an illness while Karlos Williams also did not practice with his shoulder injury. Injury Page.

Mario To Practice Today: Mario Williams is expected to try to practice today and he seems better. The Bills will be short at tackle today in practice as Cordy Glenn will be limited with a back issue and Seantrel Henderson is sitting with an illness. Bacarri Rambo will sit, he has been bothered by a shoulder issue. Rex Ryan expects both players to play on Sunday at this point. Karlos Williams will not practice today.

Tarpley Back: A day after releasing A.J. Tarpley the Bills have brought the linebacker back and put him in the open spot they had on the practice squad. He took the spot vacated when Jaylen Watkins was signed by the Eagles last week. Tarpley was released after a poor showing in place of the injured Nigel Bradham on Sunday. Front Office Page.

Kyle Williams To IR; 3 Spots Filled: The Bills have finally placed Kyle Williams on injured reserve and filled that roster spot and the two others opened up by the placing of Alex Carrington on injured reserve yesterday and the release of A.J. Tarpley. The Bills hvae added DE Lavar Edwards, DT T.J. Barnes, and LB Kevin Reddick. Edwards was signed off of the Cowboys practice squad. He also was on the Bears active roster and the Raiders practice squad this year. He was a 5th round pick in 2013 byt he Titans and has appeared in 11 career games. Barnes is a huge run stuffing tackle who was signed off of the Jets practice squad. He appeared in six games with Gang Green this year. Monday November 30, 2015

Two Roster Spots Opened Up: The Bills have placed Alex Carrington on injured reserve and released LB A.J. Tarpley freeing up two roster spots. They will have a third when they eventually place Kyle Williams on injured reserve. Reports say Carringon underwent surgery for a torn quad tendon. Tarpley had a bad game playing for the injured Nigel Bradham who will likely miss this week's game as well and will be replaced by 6th round draft pick Tony Steward in the starting lineup. Front Office Page.

Injury Update: Rex Ryan addressed the media and admitted that Alex Carrington's injury is not good and he will likely be lost for the season. The good news is the coach hopes to have Mario Williams back in some capacity against the Texans. He said that Nigel Bradham will likely miss this week's game and Tony Steward will replace him who has leap frogged ahead of A.J. Tarpley on the depth chart. In fact Sal Capaccio of WGR is reporting Tarpley will be released. The injury to the shoulder of Karlos Williams is not that serious but it is a wait and see approach on if he can play this week. Marcus Easley is making good head way during concussion protocol and has a chance to play this week. He was missed on the coverage units against Kansas City. John Miller will remain sidelined for this week's game. Although Aaron Williams is allowed to practice this week, he will not. The coach addressed the Cyrus Kouandjio situation and said the knee is no longer a problem they just feel Jordan Mills is a better option at this time. He won't start as the coach maintained his support of Seantrel Henderson as a starter despite his struggles recently Kyle Williams is expected to go on IR today opening up a roster spot. Injury Page.

Carrington Done For The Year: Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network is reporting that Alex Carrington will undergo surgery today for a torn quad tendon and is done for the year. Carrington got injured late in the loss to the Chiefs and has had quad problems in the past. Carrington was a starter for the first time this year in place of the injured Mario Williams. Rex Ryan said last week he doesn't know if Mario will be back in time for the Texans game on Sunday. Injury Page.

Bad Loss: The Bills suffered another bone crushing defeat like they seem to do every year when their playoff hopes are on the line. Tony Bogyo breaks down a bad loss that has him stewing in anger as the Bills lose because of stupidity. Complete Story.
