Organized Team Activities Wrap Up
Chris Williams Still Hurting: Doug Whaley explained to the Associated Press yesterday that Chris Williams has not been at the voluntary offseason conditioning program and OTAs because he is still recovering from his back surgery. Whaley said he will be at the mandatory minicamp next week. Last year's surgery was the second one on his back and Whaley admitted it is a tricky thing. He would not give a timetable for Williams to be ready to participate and wouldn't say if he would be ready for training camp. Yesterday's OTA practice was the only one open to the media this week and by all accounts Matt Cassel struggled mightily and EJ Manuel looked pretty good. Rex Ryan addressed the media and praised Manny Lawson, Richie Incognito, and Ty Powell . He said Incognito has been impressive and Lawson is just super smart. Powell has been praised all offseason and seems to have a lock on the main backup position at inside linebacker. Lawson excelled in the similar Mike Pettine defense two years ago and seems destined for a starting outside linebacker spot if they leave Jerry Hughes as a defensive end. Another player that should benefit for the return to this similar defense to two years ago is Nickell Robey. The aggressive defense works more with his skill set. The Bills are scheduled to wrap up OTAs today but Rex Ryan seemed to indicate they will not be on the field. Injury Page.
