Long Offseason Begins

Marchibroda Passes Away The architect of the K-Gun No Huddle offense Ted Marchibroda passed away this morning at the age of 84. The team released a statement, “The entire Buffalo Bills organization is saddened to hear the news of the passing of Ted Marchibroda. He was an outstanding coach who played an integral role in the genesis of the famed ‘K-gun offense’ that our team utilized in four Super Bowls. More importantly, Ted was a terrific man who cared deeply about his family and friends and was beloved by Bills players, coaches and staff. Our deepest sympathies and condolences go out to Ted’s family at this difficult time.”

Watkins, McCoy Honored 3 Times: In finishing up our work on the 2015 season we put all our player of the week winners fomr our Bills Blitz articles on one page with brief stats on each player to look back on. Sammy Watkins and LeSean McCoy won our award three times eacg, Tyrod Taylor won it twice in the first three weeks and Mike Gillislee won it twice in the final three weeks. Player Of Week Winners.

Ryan Has 4 Goats: We tallied up the goatss given out each week during the season in our Bills Blitz articles and Rex Ryan led the way with four goats as he had some bad days coaching the football team. Jerry Hughes, Leodis McKelvin, and Tyrod Taylor had three apiece. Final Goat Tally.

Taylor Has 6 Gameballs: We tallied up the gameballs given out each week during the season in our Bills Blitz articles and Tyrod Taylor led the way with six gameballs followed by our Player of the Year Sammy Watkins. Jerry Hughes and LeSean McCoy had four apiece. Final Gameball Tally.

Bills Hire Reed: The Bills have filled one of the openings on their coaching staff by hiring 9 time pro bowler Ed Reed as their assistant defensive backs coach. The future hall of fame safety retired after the 2013 season when he finished his career on Rex Ryan's Jets team. This will be his first coaching job. Ryan released a statement saying, "having spent time with Ed in Baltimore and then New York - I can attest to the incredibly high level of professionalism he is going to bring with him to Buffalo. He's going to teach guys how he studies film, bring the guys along and add so much in that way." Front Office Page.

Final Season Grades: For the 16th straight year we breakdown the season player by player and give grades to each unit and each key player. Two WRs Officialy Signed; 2 Coaches Gone: The Bills made the signing of WR Jarrett Boykin official and have also added WR Greg Little. The Boykin move was first tweeted by his agent last week. The team also made it official that DB coach Donnie Henderson won't be back which was first reported earlier today. They also announced Special teams quality control coach Mike Hamlin will not return. Boykin played with Tyrod Taylor at Virginia Tech and has 57 receptions for 731 yards and 3 TDs in 39 career games including 11 starts. Little was a 2nd round draft pick of the Browns in 2011 and has 42 career starts in 54 games. He has 161 catches for 1,890 yards and 8 scores in his career. Front Office Page.

Henderson Out: Alex Marvez of Fox Sports reports that Donnie Henderson is not returning as the Bills defensive backs coach after being with the team for the past three years. The Buffalo News spoke to Henderson who confirmed this to the paper. Henderson split the DB coaching duties with Tim McDonald last year. Marvez also reports that it is possible that defensive coordinator Dennis Thurman will now concentrate on the secondary while Rex and Rob Ryan will handle running the defense. Henderson was one of three holdovers from Doug Marrone's staff but did have a history coaching for Rex Ryan. No word on what spearheaded his departure.

Kelly Still Cancer Free: Jim Kelly's daughter Erin announced through her instagram account that Jim Kelly's latest scan showed his continues to be cancer free. He has now been free of the disease for 18 months. He undergoes MRIs every six months to make sure the cancer does not recur.

Rex Hires Brother: The Bills officially announced late last night that they have hired Rex Ryan's brother Rob Ryan as Assistant head coach/Defense. Rex's twin brother visited for a week late in the season after he was fired as the Defensive Coordinator of the Saints. Rex released this statement on the hiring, “I'm excited to have Rob join our staff and I think he will be a great asset for our defense. He has a tremendous working knowledge of our schemes and I look forward to his input. On a personal note, it's been a number of years since we have worked together and so we are both really looking forward to this opportunity.” The two haven't coached together since they were assistants on their Dad's staff in Arizona in the mid 90s. Rob has two Super Bowl rings under Bill Belichick's defense with New England as the LBs coach. He has been a Defensive Coordinator in Oakland, Cleveland, and Dallas before going to New Orleans. Rob is expected to help oversee the defense and assist with offseason preparations and game planning during the season. RB Coach Anthony Lynn also has the title of Assistant head coach.
