Draft Pick Signs: The Bills have signed their first of their seven draft picks, it was also the last player they selected. Kevon Seymour signed his four year rookie contract. He was the 2nd of two 6th round picks taken 218th overall by the team as a compensatory pick. With rookies slotted signing them is a mere formality. Look for other picks to sign soon as well.
Smith Conference Call: Bruce Smith addressed the Buffalo media on a conference call this morning just two hours after it was announced that his number will be retired. He called the honor right at the top with being elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He thanked the Pegulas for "leaving no stone unturned in reaching back into the rich history of the Buffalo Bills." He wants people to remember the energy those great Bills teams brought "to a great historical sports town." He wants people to remember the hard work and dedication he put in during his career. He said he's truly grateful and thankful and couldn't sleep last night thinking about the great memories.
Bills Retiring Bruce's Number: The Bills have announced that they will retire Bruce Smith's number 78 during a halftime ceremony at the home opener against the Jets on Thursday night Sept. 15th. He becomes the 2nd Bill to have his number retired as Jim Kelly's #12 is also retired. The team does not give out Thurman Thomas' #34 and O.J. Simpson's #32. Russ Brandon made the announcement on WGR this morning. Howard Simon asked Brandon about Thurman and he said today is about Bruce but stay tuned and you can read between the lines. It sounds like Thurman will have his number retired in the not so distant future as well.

Bills Claim RB: The Bills claimed and was awarded RB/KR Dri Archer off of waivers from the Jets. He was a third round draft pick of the Steelers in 2014 and was with the Jets since January after being relased by Pittsburgh in November. He is considered one of the fastest players in the NFL after running a 4.26 40. Archer along with Kolby Listenbee and Marquise Goodwin gives the Bills three of the fastest players in the league. He can fill a big hole at kick returner for the team. He's played in 20 career games and has 40 rushing yards on 10 career carries along with seven receptions for 23 yards, and he's returned 23 kicks for 515 yards for an average of 22.4 yards. 31 Players Participating: The Bills have their first rookie minicamp practice under their belt and 31 players are participating. Besides the seven draftees and the 14 undrafted free agents the team has seven tryout players in the camp and three first year players. The players that were already on the roster that are participating are last year's 7th round draft pick WR Dezmin Lewis, recent free agent signee RB James Wilder Jr., and one undrafted free agent from last year DE Cedric Reed. The seven tryout players are RB Shon Carson, DE Michael Keck, LB Jesse Hayes, S Taj Letman, CB Donnell Lewis, QB Joe Licata, and LB Chima Uzowhie. Licata is a local product who graduated from the University of Buffalo. Frontoffice Page.
Rookie Minicamp Starts: The coaches get a first look at the seven drafted players, 14 undrafted free agent signees, and many tryout players as the mandatory rookie minicamp gets underway at One Bills Drive today. The three day camp goes through the weekend. The team is also busy entertaining their first post draft free agent visit as former Bears and Jets guard Matt Slauson is in town after visiting with San Diego earlier in the week. Slauson played for Rex Ryan in New York and Bills OL Coach Aaron Kromer for two years in Chicago. Even though he has played guard is entire career there are reports the Bills may want to look at him as a right tackle if he signs with the team.

Bills Buy Land: There was a lot of stir on the internet yesterday when it was reported by Ryan Talbot of Buffalo Football Report that the Bills have purchased some land adjacent to Ralph Wilson Stadium. Buzz began that they were buying land to build a new stadium next to the current one. That was not the case however as the land was purchased to build a new grass practice field that was requested by Rex Ryan. The Buffalo News reports the land was bought two weeks ago and construction will begin shortly on the new field. Nothing in the land purchase suggests they will build a new stadium on the site. The Bills campus is smaller than most in the league so buying more land brings them closer to the NFL norm.
Two Bills Listed: The NFL Network started revealing their top 100 players last night as they took a look at players listed #100 to #91. There were two Bills in the 90s list. Richie Incognito came in at #97 followed by Sammy Watkins at #96. The list is voted on by the players themselves. Neither player was on the list last year. The NFL Network will reveal the whole list 10 at a time each Wednesday at 8pm.

Glenn Signs Five Year Deal: The Bills have announced that they have signed Cordy Glenn to a five year contract. The team had placed the franchise tag on him and now get it back to use on another free agent next year if needed. That could come in handy with Stephon Gilmore and Tyrod Taylor in the last year of their deals. Doug Whaley said on WGR yesterday now that the draft is over he would work on getting extensions done with all three of them. Glenn was the most pressing since they only had until July 15th to lock him up. Gilmore and Taylor are tied to the Bills for another year. Adam Schefter reports the deal for Glenn is for 5 years and is worth $65M with $36M guaranteed. $19M in 2016 and $30M in first 2 years. Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News says $26.5 Million is guaranteed. That averages out to $13 Million per year which is slighty under the $13.7 franchise tender he signed. Frontoffice Page.
Bills Release Three: After signing 14 Undrafted Free Agents yesterday the team made room on their 90 man roster by releasing three players. DE Jairus Wynn, CB Bud Noel and OL Ronald Patrick were let go. Wynn is the surprise of the group, after missing last year because of a knee injury he was making the transition to outside linebacker in the Bills new 3-4 scheme. Noel and Patrick were long shots to make the team. In other news, the Bills decided against picking up the option on EJ Manuel. That means he will be an unrestricted free agent after this season. This wasn't a surprise as if the team picked up the option it would have cost them $11.4 Million. This will almost certainly be the former first round draft pick's last year in Buffalo. Depth Chart.
