Bills Winning Streak Comes To Crashing Halt

Sunday October 23, 2016

Gameday Grades: Both sides of the ball were dominated at the line of scrimmage as Miami really controlled the game despite trailing somehow by 11 in the third quarter. Only the special teams graded out well in this one. Gameday Grades.

Bills Blitz: Jay Ajayi ran for 214 yards as Miami dominated both sides of the line of scrimmage and won an important division game 28-25. Despite Miami dominating all facets of the game the Bills held a 17-6 lead in the third quarter when Tyrod Taylor hit Marquise Goodwin for a 67 yard touchdown bomb. Miami's running game took over from there as Ajayi responded with a four yard touchdown run on the next series and Damien Williams scored from 12 yards out to give them the lead. A broken play allowed Ryan Tannenhill to hit Kenny Stills for a 66 yard touchdown to put the game away. The Bills made it look closer when Reggie Bush scored a garbage time touchdown and caught the two point conversion attempt. Bills Blitz.

Injury Update: Aaron Williams suffered a neck and head injury on a cheap blindside hit by Jarvis Landry. He was very woozy and did not return. He left the stadium in an ambulance. LeSean McCoy started the game but couldn't finish it as his hamstring knocked him out of the game. Marquise Goodwin hit his head hard late in the game against the turf and was taken off woozy and of course didn't return as he is in concussion protocol. Kevon Seymour left the game in the first half as he was taken to the locker room for observation but did return. Injury Page.

Gameday Inactives: As reported this morning, LeSean McCoy is active for today's game. Robert Woods and Marcell Dareus are inactive after being listed as doubtful. Seantrell Henderson was ruled out on Friday. The healthy scratches are Partick Lewis, Michael Ola, Jonathan Williams, and Cardale Jones. Lewis has a banged up knee but it was healthy enough to play last week. Williams being scratched must mean they are confident McCoy will play a significant role.

Report, McCoy To Play: Several reports say today that LeSean McCoy will play today unless something happens during pregame warmups. He is expected to be on a pitch count so still look to see plenty of ex-Dolphin Mike Gillislee. Another ex Dolphin who will have an impact today is Justin Hunter who will start for Robert Woods who will not play today. He was listed as doubtful but Adam Schefter reports he's out.

Gameday Weather: Typical South Florida weather for today's battle in Miami. Sunny and pleasant with temperatures around 80 . Winds will be out of the North Northeast at 12 mph with gusts slightly higher.

McCoy Questionable: LeSean McCoy was on the practice field today for the Bills but it doesn't mean he will play Sunday. It appears like he will be a gametime decision and is officially listed as questionable. McCoy did some stretching and took part in a few drills. He described himself as very limited but said he felt alright and will see how it feels on Sunday. He is trying to be smart with it and said it is the same leg he hurt last year but it isn't nearly as bad as then. Rex Ryan won't rule him out saying Shady really wants to play. He also caught a pass in the part of practice open to the media but didn't have his usual bounce. There was a report yesterday that he was out but that was refuted by several local media outlets. Kyle Williams and Jerome Felton were back on the field but Marcell Dareus and Robert Woods weren't and are listed as doubtful. Injury Page.

McCoy Out? Josina Anderson of ESPN reports LeSean McCoy will not play on Sunday and may miss more time depending on how long it takes to heal his hamstring injury.

McCoy Injury Not Full Blown: Rex Ryan spoke to the media after practice today and said that the hamstring injury to LeSean McCoy is not full blown and not as bad as last year. They will see how he progresses over the next couple of days before deciding on his status for Sunday's game. He was at practice today but didn't participate. Offensive Coordinator Anthony Lynn said they don't want to go week to week with McCoy not healthy like last year they want to get him fully healthy and will not change the running game if he's out. The coach also said that Shaq Lawson will play on Sunday. He has seen enough from him to get him on the field. Kyle Williams was limited today with a neck issue. Robert Woods remains in the walking boot and is still sidelined but he still hopes to play Sunday. The coach doesn't have long term concern for Woods but there is concern when a player doesn't practice. Marcell Dareus is working hard to get ready but still not on the field. The coach is still hoping he can play on Sunday. Injury Page.

McCoy Among Those Sitting: As could be expected LeSean McCoy did not take part in practice today. Sal Cappaccio reported it is somwhere between a mild and moderate strain of his hamstring. That makes it fairly unlikely he will play this week and probably puts the next two weeks in jeopardy as well before the bye week. Marcell Dareus, Jerome Felton, Seantrel Henderson, and Robert Woods also did not practice today. Felton injured his back during yesterday's practice. Dareus it appears may be at least nother week away from playing. Cordy Glenn and Charles Clay returned to practice. Injury Page.

Game Preview:The Bills head down to South Florida riding high on a four game winning streak as they look to keep their eye on the ball with a big matchup with the Patriots looming next week. Miami has struggled all year long but got back on track last week at home. The Bills are road favorites against a division rival for the first time since 2007. Complete Preview.

Wednesday October 19, 2016

McCoy Injures Hamstring: Some potentially really bad news for the Bills during today's practice as LeSean McCoy was unable to finish after injuring his hamstring. Rex Ryan spoke to the media again after practice to address the media and called it tightness. He said he will be evaluated by the medical staff and would not speculate on the severity or if he'll be able to play Sunday. Jerome Felton also couldn't finish practice with a back injury. Several players sat today but Ryan is not too concerned about any of those players availablilty for Sunday. The list of players sitting included Charles Clay who injured his ankle on Sunday and Robert Woods who suffered a foot injury in the win. Marcell Dareus continues to sit with his hamstring injury but there seems to be a chance of him returning to the field this week. Cordy Glenn sat to rest his ankle and Lerentee McCray also did not practice today. Injury Page.

Bills Fans Happy The Bills have now won four in a row but our columnist Tony Bogyo is taking a realistic approach to the Bills sudden fortunes. There are warning signs despite the winning streak they are on now and they will need to tighten things up to beat some of the better teams in the league. Complete Story.

Lawson To Practice: Rex Ryan told the media today that Shaq Lawson will practice on Wednesday as was anticipated. The coach is hoping he will get up to speed enough to come in and spell Lorenzo Alexander and Jerry Hughes. The coach has admitted several times recently that Alexander has won the job and he's not holding it for the top pick anymore. The coach said it's not 100 percent certain Lawson will dress for the Miami game they will see how he develops during the week. He has yet to take an NFL practice.
