McDermott Post Game Presser: Sean McDermott addressed the media after the game and said all the penalties were 100 percent unacceptable. He was haappy with the play of the first team defense but knows Tyrod Taylor would like to have some of those passes back and he was disappointed by the rythym of the first team offense. He liked how decisive Nathan Peterman was. He said they will always evaluate everything when asked about the top QB spot instead of shooting it down. He thinks Tyrod has done good things but they will evaluate the film and the job everyone did. They have a lot to work on and they are going to work on everything. There has been good things they have done and there are things they need to work on. It's a process and there are mile markers along the way and they are hitting some of them. They are coming together and learning valuable lessons. Two games in a row they had a chance to win and that's what you want. They are playing extremely hard and the defense looks real good. On offense and special teams they have done some good things they just aren't consistent enough. They did a good job controlling the line of scrimmage on defense and kept them in 3rd and long situations.
Eagles Beat Bills 20-16: A pass interference penalty by Greg Mabin in the end zone setup a 1 yard touchdown run with three minutes remaining to lift the Eagles over the Bills 20-16. T.J. Yates hit Brandon Reilly for a 9 yard touchdown with 4:57 left in the game to give the Bills a short lived lead in a sloppy, penalty filled game in Philadelphia. The Bills had a chance to win with an impressive final drive but Yates was picked off in the end zone on the game's final play. Stephen Hauschka was three for three on field goal attempts hitting from 42, 26, and 30 yards out.
Who Helped Themselves: Nathan Peterman may have won the backup job with his drive at the end of the first half. In fact, with the way Tyrod Taylor played I'm sure some fans will think he should challenge for the starting job. He took the team 67 yards in 9 plays in the final :47 of the first half. He finished 10 of 20 for 167 yards and led them to two field goals. He almost got a touchdown but Zay Jones couldn't get both feet in bounds so they had to settle for a field goal. T.J. Yates played very well with the third unit throwing a touchdown pass and driving them down into range for a winning score in the final seconds. Speaking of Jones he made a spectacular catch on that drive. I saw enough of LeSean McCoy after his first carry of the preseason. He juked out Ronald Darby and went for 13 yards. He's ready for the season. Brandon Tate had a 31 yard kick return and a long punt return as well but that was brought back by a penalty. Jerel Worthy was spectacular as he continues his solid summer. Greg Mabin ripped the ball out of the receiver's hands late in the game and returned it to the 9 yard line to setup the Bills lone touchdown. The first team defense played very well especially Ramon Humber.
Who Hurt Themselves: I don't know what Sean McDermott sees in Jordan Mills but he constantly underachieves on the field. He got thrown around on the third offensive play and it resulted in an interception. Vlad Ducasse continues his disappointing summer as he was bull rushed on a hit on Tyrod Taylor. The run protection is a huge problem. Speaking of Taylor he only has one multi-Interception game in his career, he had two in the first quarter tonight. His throws were coming up late and were off target for most of the night. He finished 8 for 18 for 53 yards and a QB rating of 12.0 in six drives. For a second straight game the special teams were committing penalty after penalty. They had five special teams penalties in the first half, four were accepted. Eddie Yarbrough was called for a leverage penalty that took three points off the board and gave the Eagles a first and goal that led to a late first half touchdown. Greg Mabin hurt himself minutes after making the big play he was called for a pass interference penalty in the end zone setting up the Eagles winning touchdown. In fact McDermott can't be happy with all the penalties as the Bills were called for eight of them in the first quarter alone! Five were accepted. For the game the Bills had 15 penalties against them accepted for 131 yards. Reggie Ragland didn't enter the game until the fourth quarter which isn't a good sign for him. Seantrel Henderson looked bad once again.
Injury Update: The Bills suffered their first likely serious injury of camp when WR Rod Streater was carted off the field after making a catch early in the fourth quarter with a foot injury He had the inside track on a wide receiver spot before the injury. TE Jason Croom came off with an ankle injury and his return was listed as questionable but he did not return. Trae Elston left with a hamstring injury in the fourth quarter as well and didn't return. S Shamiel Gray was shaken up and looked at on the sidelines by trainers. Colt Anderson reinjured his foot during pregame warmups and didn't play. Injury Page.
Gameday Inactives: Cordy Glenn, Kevon Seymour, Jordan Matthes, Jeremy Butler, and Bacarri Rambo will not play tonight. The starters are expected to play until about halfway through the 2nd quarter and then the second team will take their place with the offense led by Nathan Peterman. He should play into the fourth quarter. Anquan Boldin will make his Bills debut along with E.J. Gaines. Shareece White and Kevon Seymour will both play coming off of injuries and it will be interesting to watch them as they battle for the starting right cornerback spot vacated by Ronald Darby who will be lined up against their offense today. They both got time with the first unit.

Injury Update: Today is the last day of the St. Johns Fisher College portion of training camp. It was a little shorter than past years. Sean McDermott addressed the media before the practice and announced that Jeremy Butler, Jordan Matthews, and Cordy Glenn have been ruled out for Thursday night's game with Philadelphia thanks to their injuries. The coach said that Glenn flew to Wisconsin and had an injection in his foot and they are hopeful but he's still week to week. They have decided not to move Dion Dawkins over to left tackle at this point as they want him to get comfortable on the right side and they are happy taht he got a lot of time on the left side in the spring. Michael Ola, Shareece Wright, Adolphus Washington, and Kevon Seymour are questionable for the game. As expected Nathan Peterman will be with the second unit against the Eagles. Injury Page.

Day 14 Camp Notes: Besides being without Jordan Matthews the Bills continue to be without Cordy Glenn who was not on the field this morning. Kevon Seymour did return and didn't seem limited after missing over a week with a foot injury. He took his spot with the first team. Nathan Peterman remained with the twos today. Sean McDermott didn't seem happy with today's practice as he stopped it once and gathered the team together and was not happy. Tensions also boiling over as there were a few skirmishes in a camp that has been pretty much fight free. Charles Clay did not practice as he got one of his maintenance days.
Matthews Week To Week: Jordan Matthews suffered a chip fracture in his sternum during his first practice as a Bill yesterday and is week to week. He will have time to learn the terminology and the playbook but won't be able to build chemistry with Tyrod Taylor as it appears there is a danger of him missing the start of the season just days after coming to Buffalo. This is definitely a blow to the team. NFL injury expert Dr. David Chao says it's just a pain tolerance thing but it is a very painful one to play with. Injury Page.
