Free Agency Winding Down As Attention Turns To Draft

Thursday April 5, 2018

Bills Lose Two: Two more unrestricted free agents have found new homes. Joe Webb has signed with the Titans and Jordan Matthews has landed with division rival New England. Both players have signed one year deals. Matthews appears to be healthy now and can add some depth and do well with Tom Brady throwing to him. Webb was the hero of the snow game last year with his 34 yard pass to Deonte Thompson who also left in free agency this offseason.

Bills add DE: The Bills have signed free agent DE Terrence Fede to a one year deal. The former 7th round draft pick of the Dolphins spent his entire 4 year career in Miami with no starts. He was the first player ever drafted from Marist College in Poughkeepsie NY and has 55 career tackles and a sack. He adds more depth to the defensive line and some special teams help. Depth Chart. Bills sign two: The Bills added depth at two positions of need today. They brought back WR Kaelin Clay who split his time between Buffalo and Carolina last year. He brings speed at the position and adds a punt return threat with Brandon Tate still on the open market. The team also signed CB Philip Gaines who was a former 3rd round pick with the Chiefs. He has struggled with production and injuries but if he can return to form he can be a help as a slot receiver. Depth Chart. Front Office Page.

Beane At Owners Meeting: Brandon Beane spoke to the media at the owners meeting in Orlando. He said both he and Sean McDermott have talked to Zay Jones and the team is committed to him. Jones is expected back in Buffalo soon. On the shortage of wide receivers, Beane said it's a 12 month process and players sometimes come available after the draft. Beane said he's not concerned that the Jets traded up to the #3 pick and they are happy with the #12 pick. They are focused on that pick but he added you never know what will happen. He left open the possibility of trading up or trading down as you would expect. He also said that he would be willing to part with next year's first round pick in a deal if it makes them a lot better. He seems weary of trying to move up twice to get into the top five saying he would be concerned of getting stuck in the lower half of the top 10 and not getting their guy. He also said he would only move into the top five if he knew he would get the guy they want.
