Bills Score TDs; Lose In Fourth Quarter

Drew Bledsoe - AP Photo Optimism In Loss? Bills Daily columnist Tony Bogyo is tired of looking at all the negatives with the Bills, this week's column takes the positive stuff out of yesterday's loss and looks at the glass half full. Do you think there will be any sarcasm oozing off of your computer? Complete Story.

Fans Weigh In On Coach: Fans have been talking for weeks about how the head coach needs to be fired. It won't happen until the off season but Boston Bills backer member Douglas Nworyta gives his reasons why Williams should be gone. Complete Story.

Defense Solid For Three Quarters: The big battle in this game was the Bills defense against the high powered Colts offense. For three quarters the Bills won the battle. They ended up losing the war as the Colts scored two fourth quarter touchdowns to pull the game out. Gameday Grades.

Injury Update: Eric Moulds has something else to worry about besides his groin injury. He had what is being described as a hamstring cramp late in the game against the Colts. Jeff Posey sprained his knee and Mike Pucillo has turf toe. Injury Page.

Bills Lose Again: The touchdown drought came to an end against Indianapolis. The Bills in fact scored two of them. The defense played inspired against the high powered Colts offense but caved in the fourth quarter of the 17-14 loss. The Bills built a 14-3 lead behind touchdown runs by Drew Bledsoe and Sammy Morris. The Colts responded with fourth quarter drives of 61 and 80 yards to two Edgerrin James touchdown runs. Game Review.

Gameday Weather: It will be downright balmy today at Ralph Wilson Stadium. The temperature is expected to top out at about 62°. It will be mostly cloudy with winds at about 13mph. No rain is in the forecast during the game.

Three Added: The Bills wide receiver depth is getting dangerously thin. Besides Eric Moulds, the Bills have added two more wide receivers to the injury report as questionable. Clarence Coleman has a leg injury and Sam Aiken has a knee problem. The team also added LB Angelo Crowell to the report as questionable with a back injury.

Henry Looks Good: Travis Henry practiced with the first unit today. He took the majority of the snaps and felt pretty good. He is now optimistic that the will be able to play Sunday against Indianapolis. He said his cuts and acceleration were good. He will rest his leg tomorrow and will decide during pregame warmups on Sunday if he will be able to go for sure. Coach Williams said he would be surprised if Henry doesn't play. All the other injured Bills, including Eric Moulds look good to go also with the possible exception of Izell Reese. Moulds completed his first full practice in more than two weeks today and is confident he will be able to play. Reese is experiencing nausea from the concussion he suffered on Sunday and may not be able to go. Injury Report.

Thursday November 20, 2003

Decision Day Tomorrow: Travis Henry will decide tomorrow if he'll play on Sunday against Indianapolis. Henry says if he can bare the pain during practice and cut well, he will decide to play. The hairline fracture is very small and it is not on a weight bearing bone. The team will likely also decide, based on how he practices, if Eric Moulds will go on Sunday. Injury Report.

Game Sold Out: Sunday's game is a sellout and the blackout has been lifted. All six home games have been sold out in time to lift the television blackout. Of the remaining two home games, the Miami game is already sold out but the Jets game may not make it.

Rough Season Continues: This season gets rougher and rougher for Bills fans. It doesn't get any rougher than Bills Daily columnist Tony Bogyo's trip back from the Boston Bills Backers bar after watching the Bills latest loss to the Texans. Complete Story.

Burns May Start: If Travis Henry can't go on Sunday, the Bills will turn to Joe Burns to make his second start of the season. The only other healthy running back the Bills have is Sammy Morris and he needs to concentrate on third downs and special teams. The Bills will not rush Willis McGahee on the field any earlier than he's ready just because Henry is hurt. Coach Williams says he still has a ways to go. Depth Chart.

Wednesday November 19, 2003

Roster Moves: The Bills were busy making adjustments to the practice squad today. They re-signed WR Jerel Myers to the squad and also added tight end Rod Trafford to the five man squad. Gone is RB Nick Maddox. The team also released FB Phillip Crosby from the Reserved-injured list. Trafford played in NFL Europe this spring after being signed by the Patriots as an undrafted free agent last January.

Fine Reduced: The NFL reduced the fine given to Lawyer Milloy for bumping a referee during the Washington game last month. Milloy was originally fined $25,000 but the league reduced it to $2,500. Milloy claimed the umpire was in his way as he went for a tackle and couldn't avoid him and make the tackle at the same time.

Henry Update: Coach Williams said he's optimistic that Travis Henry will be able to play on Sunday. He did not practice today and probably won't workout until Friday. The Coach said it is not a season threatening injury and not as severe as the cracked fibula that landed Phillip Crosby on injured reserve.

Williams Says Team Needs Balance: Gregg Williams held his normal media day press conference and said that the team needs to have balance on offense and not worry about running on all third and shorts and first down. He said the team needs to matchup on both sides of the ball. The bottom line is first down is the key and the team needs to execute down by the goal line. Offensively, Williams said the team needs to make a play when they have the coverage situations that they want. He feels Bobby Shaw and Josh Reed have made plays. He expects Rian Lindell to bounce back from last week's misses. The team has a big challenge ahead of them but he says the guys are excited by it.

Four Bills Questionable: Eric Moulds is expected to be ready to go on Sunday as he has had two good days of workouts. Travis Henry is officially listed as questionable as is Mike Williams. Izell Reese surprsingly is not on the injury list but Jonas Jennings is questionable despite playing last week. Injury Report.

Williams To Practice: Coach Williams said earlier in the week that Mike Williams is expected to practice today despite injuring his shoulder in a car accident on Sunday. We will have much more injury news later today after the media day press conference. Injury Report.

Colts Should Add To Bills Woes: The Bills face a tough opponent at home on Sunday. The Colts should handle the Bills very easily but there will be one battle to watch, the top ranked passing offense in the league against the number two rated passing defense of Buffalo. Game Preview.

Latest Loss May Help Goals: While Bills fans are wallowing in their latest loss, Joe Chenelly sees it as a way to get more help in the offseason. He takes a look at the free agent and draft crop in the fast approaching off season. Complete Story.

Shattered Expectations: Going into this season, and especially after the first two games, expectations for this team soared. Those expectations are all gone now and the team needs an entire new coaching staff. Our Bills Thunder report takes a look at another horrible loss. Complete Story.

Monday November 17, 2003

Williams To Play: Mike Williams expects to play Sunday after escaping Sunday's car accident fairly unscathed. He suffered a strained left shoulder and some scrapes. Williams had to be cut out of his overturned vehicle with the jaws of life. He feels very fortunate to have come out of the accident without any serious injuries.

Henry Walking Pretty Good: Coach Gregg Williams said Travis Henry was walking around pretty good today despite breaking his fibula in yesterday's game. He will be evaluated again on Wednesday along with Izell Reese who suffered a concussion in the loss. He was still a bit dizzy and will be looked at on the team's day off tomorrow also. Eric Moulds hopes to practice on Wednesday. Injury Page.

Thomas To Get Award: Thurman Thomas will become the 24th recipient of the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Distinguished service award in a ceremony before Sunday's game against the Colts. He will also be honored by the Monday Quarterback Club in a luncheon at the HSBC arena on Monday. The award is given to players with long and meritorious service to the team.

Calls For McGahee? Travis Henry showed how tough he was playing through a broken leg and playing well. The fact that he is now in a cast may mean that he will miss significant playing time. He told WGR that he fears his season may be over. If that is the case, the Bills may feel pressure to activate Willis McGahee even earlier than they had hoped. There is a chance you may even see him in uniform this week although that remains unlikely. Injury Page.
