Leonhard Visits: Buddy Nix said at the beginning of camp that the team needs another safety and one is visiting camp today and tomorrow. Former Bill Jim Leonhard was at practice today and will stay through tomorrow in a visit with the team. No deal is reportedly imminent and he has not taken a physical. Leonhard is a free agent because the Jets didn't re-sign him after he tore his patellar tendon in December. This is the same injury Terrence McGee is struggling to come back from and he suffered his in November.
Shepp Takes Part In Drills: Kelvin Sheppard took part in individual drills in practice today but not in team drills. He left practice early with trainers and did not take part in team drills. Chris Kelsay did not practice today with a groin injury. Mark Anderson is also slowed by a groin problem while Bryan Scott is bothered by a thigh injury. Newly signed Zach Brown was on the field but can't where pads for three days because of CBA rules. The other players sitting out were Justin Rogers, David Nelson, Mike Caussin, Josh Nesbitt, Kellen Heard, and Kamar Aiken. Injury Page.
Bills Swap Backs: The Bills swapped running backs as Chris Douglas has been waived/injured and the team has signed Zach Brown. Douglas hurt his leg in practice on Tuesday. Brown was a tryout player in the rookie minicamp. He ran for nearly 1,500 yards and 16 touchdowns in his college career. He spent three years at Wisconsin and one at Pitt. Depth Chart.
Shep Sits: Kelvin Sheppard missed last night's practice at St. Johns Fisher College with a medical issue and may be out a few days according to Chan Gailey. The coach is not happy with the play of the 2nd team offense and said there is a concern over the play of both Tyler Thigpen and Vince Young. What isn't a concern is the fine play of safety Da'Norris Searcy who is getting a decent amount of first team reps. Gailey said he's the first guy off the bench at Safety. He's George Wilson's backup but if something happened to Jairus Byrd, Wilson would slide over and Searcy would come in. Speaking of Byrd he had a great night of practice yesterday as he had an interception along with Nick Saenz and Prince Miller who had two. Eric Wood continues to progress as he had a few more first team reps last night after feeling good following Tuesday's practice. David Nelson remains sidelined and now says best case scenario has him back on the field this weekend. Also sitting out last night were Justin Rogers, Chris Douglas, Josh Nesbitt, Kellen Heard, and Kamar Aiken.

SiriusXM NFL Radio In The House: SiriusXM NFL radio made their annual pilgrimmage to Bills training camp and had a host of interviews. The talk was centered on how deep and good the Bills defensive line is and there was a lot of talk about the team's no huddle offense. It appears they are going to run it more this year and with a silent cadence. Hosts Pat Kirwan and Tim Ryan seem to think David Nelson will be a major key to the offense. He told them he should return to practice on Friday. Eric Wood praised the play of little talked about guard Keith Williams going as far as to say he thinks he may make the team. Dave Wannstedt talked about the battle for the strongside linebacker job between Kirk Morrison and Arthur Moates so it appears the job isn't being given to Morrison. He expressed some disappointment with Aaron Williams saying he expects more out of him this year and more consistency than he's been getting in camp. Ryan Fitzpatrick talked about how he likes to get as many reps as possible to fine tune his game. Kyle Williams said his Achilles feels good although he is sore after practice which the doctors say he will be this year. Chan Gailey said he is lucky to have a coach like Wannstedt working with him and praised the play of Derek Hagan.
Practice Finishes Inside: The Bills had to race inside to finish practice as thunderstorms rolled in to Pittsford. Ron Brooks showed up at practice late no word on why he wasn't on the field at the start of practice. Eric Wood and Erik Pears took part in individual drills but not team drills. Running Back Chris Douglas left the field early limping a bit but seemed to be ok. He was tackled on a play which is not allowed since they weren't in full pads today. The receivers were making plays all over the place today according to various tweets as many of the national media were there.
Bills Back On Field: The Bills held a morning walkthrough and an afternoon workout on the hottest day of training camp. Johnny White and Ron Brooks are new players on the non participation list. Erik Pears is off of that list as he returned to practice today. Also sitting out are Justin Rogers, David Nelson, Josh Nesbitt, and Kellen Heard.

Nelson Out A Few Days: David Nelson dodged a bullet as his knee injury is not serious. He has a strained tendon after further evaluation and no ligament damage. He says he is day to day and coach Gailey said he will be out 4 to 5 days. That is about the same amount of time Justin Rogers will miss with a hamstring injury he suffered during last night's practice. Shawne Merriman was limited last night and Torell Troup couldn't finish practice as his back still is giving him trouble. Injury Page.
