OTAs Wrap Up: The Bills wrapped up their final week of organized team activities with their fourth workout of the week today. It was a spirited day with big plays on both sides. Observers tweeted that Donald Jones had a huge day including an 80 yard would be touchdown. Stevie Johnson noticed increased power on Ryan Fitpatrick's throws and credits the work on his mechanics with QB coach David Lee. Chan Gailey said they installed a lot of the offense, defense, and special teams and learned a lot about the players. Next week's minicamp will be similiar to the OTAs with the exception of later start time to practices and more meetings. Brad Smith saw action at wide receiver today after spending most of the OTAs exclusively at quarterback. Gailey said they have not put in the wildcat offense yet and that Smith is the third quarterback at this time. He feels the team will see the old Shawne Merriman this year who said he's 100% healthy and feels like he's a perfect fit at defensive end in the 4-3 defense. The team had near perfect attendance for the voluntary workouts and Gailey said it gives them a chance to be special.
Lease Deal Close? WGRZ is reporting that deal on a new lease between the Bills and Erie County may be close. Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz told the television station that he expects lease talks to be wrapped up very soon. He said, "They've been positive negotiations in which we feel that both sides have a timetable to get the major terms done, a memorandum of understanding done by Training Camp." No comment yet from the Bills.
Johnson Making Progress: The Bills close out organized team activities with a practice this afternoon. Yesterday Stevie Johnson continued to make progress in his recovery from offseason groin surgery. He ran extra sprints after Thursday's workout and did some team warm up work at the beginning of practice. Johnson said the goal is to get one full practice in during next week's mandatory minicamp.

The Bills Future: Ed Kilgore of WGRZ has an interesting article regarding the future of the Bills. His article is a little vague but he said he has sources that said a vetting process has begun about the future of the team after Ralph Wilson. Kilgore says Wilson would love Jim Kelly to be part of a group that buys the team after he's gone because that would guarantee the team stays in Buffalo. Kelly has said numerous times he has a group ready when the time comes. A source tells Kilgore that a few of the groups in the vetting process want to keep the team in Buffalo and would pay most of the cost of a new stadium in downtown Buffalo or near Niagara Falls. Of course this is all hearsay right now but Kilgore has been in Buffalo for ever and has great sources so it is an optimistic look at the future of the team.

Levitre Talks: Joe Buscaglia reports for WGR that preliminary contract talks have begun with Andy Levitre. Levitre and Jairus Byrd are the two big names that are due to become free agents after this season. Levitre told Buscaglia that there have been some small talks but he doesn't know how far things have progressed. Things seem to be at the very beginning and numbers haven't even been talked about but it's nice to see a dialogue begin as Levitre is very important to the future of the team. Injury Page.

Johnson To Get Reps: Stevie Johnson took some reps at half speed again today when OTAs resumed. He told the media after practice that the plan is for him to take team reps next week during the mandatory minicamp. He said he is way ahead of schedule. Tyler Thigpen took some reps in red zone drills but was only throwing short passes as he recovers from a small abdomen tear. Aaron Williams left practice with a recurring knee ailment and was taken out as a precuationary move. The media was able to witness today's practice that saw Leodis McKelvin making plays and Ryan Fitpatrick hitting touchdown passes to David Nelson, Fred Jackson, and a bomb to rookie T.J. Graham. Chan Gailey said it's too early to decide who is where on the depth chart but they are up on his board in magnets and easily moved he doesn't see any reason why the rookies can't have an impact this season.
