It did not look good, Doug Marrone said he was being evaluated by the medical staff but he did confirm it is a hamstring injury. He underwent an MRI so we should know more later on but he looks like he will miss some time. Marrone said a positive of this is more time on the field for the young wide receivers. Mario Injury Not Serious: Mario Williams and Doug Marrone addressed the media after practice today. Marrone said the injury to the left foot of Williams is not serious but will require rest and treatment. Williams got a second opinion from renowed Dr. James Andrews who said it should be fine with some rest. Williams said it is not serious and he would be out on the field now but they are keeping him out as a precaution. He would not elaborate on how he injured it citing the team's rule not to have the players talk about injuries. Marrone said he will talk to the trainers before addressing the media from now on to get better information out on injuries. 2nd Practice In The Books: The Bills held an afternoon practice today with Mario Williams not in attendance. He was sent to the doctor to have his sore foot evaluated. Doug Marrone said he will wait to hear what the doctor says before a timetable on his return could be made. The coach thought the quarterbacks did better today as EJ Manuel took the first reps with the first team in 11 on 11 drills today after Kevin Kolb did yesterday. Manuel looked a bit sharper according to most in attendance but Marrone cautioned that he isn't seeing the same complicated schemes that Kolb is seeing from the defense. The coach was pleased with the better accuracy from the QBs today along with increased production. He says Manuel is learning from watching Kolb take reps. Kolb praised the young wide receivers saying they will be an asset for years to come. He said Robert Woods is a stud and Stevie Johnson is a special athlete and he has never played with a guy like him.

QB Decision Deadline? Doug Marrone spoke to the media after practice last night and said he would like to have the quarterback decision settled about 10 days before the season starts. That would mean the starter will be named just before the final preseason game. While EJ Manuel didn't get as many reps as Kevin Kolb during the two and a half hour practice last night, Marrone said the reps will even out. By Mark Gaughan's count for the Buffalo News Kolb got 36 snaps to 28 for Manuel during 11 on 11 drills.

Position Battles: There are other position battles besides quarterback and while day one of training camp doesn't mean a lot Colin Brown got the first crack at left guard over Doug Legursky. Justin Rogers also got first team reps at corner over Leodis McKelvin according to Mark Gaughan of the Buffalo News.

Bills Hit Practice Field: The Bills finally hit the practice field as training camp is now officially underway after a night practice on Sunday. A packed house at St. John Fisher College watched the team practice without pads since they aren't allowed this early in camp. Mario Williams did not practice because of a sore foot. Kyle Williams and Scott Chandler were limited a bit as they work their way back from surgeries last season. Kevin Kolb got more reps with the first team than EJ Manuel did but Doug Marrone said that will even out as they go along.
