Bills Playoff Hopes Take A Blow With Loss To Broncos

Gameday Grades: The Bills defense did all they could do keeping Peyton Manning from throwing a touchdown pass for the first time in four years and he threw two interceptions. They kept the Broncos to 24 points but the Bills offense couldn't get going until it was too late with two garbage time touchdowns in the loss. Gameday Grades.

Bills Blitz: The Bills went into the Mile High City looking to pull off a monumental upset and keep their playoff hopes sky rocketing unfortunately they leave Denver with a 24-17 loss that is a crushing blow to their dreams of ending their playoff drought. A lot of calls went against the Bills in what was the worst officiated game I have seen all year. It didn't matter in the end though as they were just outplayed by a superior team. They did hold Peyton Manning without a touchdown pass for the first time since 2010 but it was small consolation in the loss. C.J. Anderson had three short touchdown runs that gave the Broncos a 24-3 lead. The Bills would score two late touchdowns to make it close. Chris Hogan caught a 14 yard touchdown catch and run midway through the fourth quarter and Kyle Orton punched it in from the one yard line in the final minute to make the final score closer than it really was. Dan Carpenter hit a 44 yard field goal for their lone points of the first half. Sammy Watkins had 7 catches for 127 yards in the loss. Bills Blitz.

Injury Update: Da'Norris Searcy left the game in the first half with cramps that was later called a hamstring injury. He did not return. Sammy Watkins got shaken up in the final drive he may have aggravated his hip injury. Injury Page.

Gameday Inactives: Three players were ruled out on Friday due to injury as Chris Gragg, Jairus Wynn, and Mike Williams. Baccari Rambo is also on the inactive list despite being listed as probable with a hamstring injury. The injury may have nothing to do with him being scratched. The other inactives are Cyrus Kouandjio, Randell Johnson, and Frank Summers. TE Julius Thomas is playing for the Broncos.

Mild Day For Football: Couldn't ask for better weather for Football especially for a December day in Denver. The gametime temperature is expected to be 58° and bright sunshine with just light winds out of the WNW at 6mph. That would seem to be good news for Peyton Manning and the Broncos passing game.

Mike Williams Ruled Out: Mike Williams injured his calf in practice on Thursday and said he will be fine but that obviously is not the case. He did not practice today and has been ruled out. It is likely he would have been inactive anyway as the team leaves tonight for Denver a day earlier than they usually do for a road trip. Chris Gragg and Jairus Wynn have been ruled out again as expected. All the other players who have been limited in practice this week are listed as probable and are expected to be available for Sunday's game. Injury Page.

Mike Williams Leaves Practice: Mike Williams injured his calf and left practice before it was over. He spoke to the media after the game and said he is ok and will be back "leading the scout team" tomorrow. Kyle Williams and Cordy Glenn were back after being out sick yesterday. Super Mario Honored: The awards keep on coming for the Bills as Mario Williams has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Month for November. This is the first time Williams has won the monthly award in his career and the first Bills defensive player to win it since Sam Cowart in 2000. Williams had 6½ sacks in the four game during the month.

Broncos Preview: It looks to be another emotionally charged crowd on Sunday as the Bills look for their first win at Ralph Wilson Stadium in their second game their in six weeks. The Browns comes to town with playoff aspirations as the Bills look to hold on to their slim postseason hopes. Kyle Orton will go against one of his former teams as the Bills look to hold on to their playoff aspirations. Complete Preview.

Today was the first day he was allowed to practice under the ruleds of the IR/designated to return rules. He can't play until the Oakland game in week 16. Sammy Watkins and Marcell Dareus did practice on a limited basis today after suffering hip injuries against the Browns. Doug Marrone said they need to be careful not to overwork Watkins during the week but he was out there doing one on one drills with Stephon Gilmore after practice. Kyle Williams and Cordy Glenn did not practice today because they were sick. Baccari Rambo was back on the field on a limited basis after missing the Browns game with a hamstring injury. Toronto Series Officially Dead: Russ Brandon announced on WGR this morning that the Toronto series is now officially over. A deal was reached between Rogers Communications and the Bills to terminate the agreement. He said after the Atlanta game last year they realized it was time to move on from the series. They put it on pause this year and it now officially cancelled. The Bills were due to play four more games there. They will still reach out to the area to continue to build the fan base which is very important to the team. In a statement released to the team's website Brandon stated, “we greatly appreciate the support we’ve received over the past seven years from all of the tremendous people at Rogers Communications. We will continue to work hard to solidify our footprint in Southern Ontario. Our fan base in this region remains extremely important to our organization and their support has been well documented.”

Browns Help Bills Win: Tony Bogyo breaks down the latest win over the Browns in which he explains how Cleveland out Buffaloed the Bills by losing a game like Buffalo normally does. They will need to play much better to win against the powerhouses that lie ahead of them on the schedule. Complete Story.

Monday December 1, 2014

Watkins Hurt: Coach Marrone said today that Sammy Watkins came out of the Browns game with a hip injury. He was able to finish the game and the injury wasn't immediately known or made public. Marrone said he will be re-evaluated on Wednesday and he doesn't know if he'll practice or not. Marcell Dareus was banged up in the game, it was called a groin injury during the game but now Marrone says it is a hip injury. He will have his status updated on Wednesday. C.J. Spiller is close to returning and is allowed to begin practicing this week under the rules of the IR designated to return. He may see the field this week but isn't eligible to play until the Raiders game in three weeks. Injury Page.
