Bills Hold Scrimmage
Robey Gets Contract Extension: The Bills have agreed on a contract extension with nickel corner Nickell Robey. GM Doug Whaley released this statement, "Nickell Robey has been a productive and dependable cornerback for our team since we signed him in 2013. I commend our scouting staff for identifying and signing a player of Nickell’s caliber in the undrafted college free agent period. Since entering the NFL, Nickell has worked hard and taken advantage of his opportunities to make plays when called upon.” Robey told the team's website, “I just feel extremely blessed right now. I just kept my faith in the Buffalo Bills organization and they believe in me and see the talent that I have. We got on common ground and now I’m here for another few years and now I can just play football.”

Polian To Hall; Scrimmage Tonight: Bill Polian was inducted into the Hall of Fame this evening and mentioned several Bills players in his induction speech as well as taking the time to thank the late Ralph Wilson for giving him an opportunity. Back at St. John Fisher, the Bills held their first scrimmage of the camp. As expected, the offense struggled mightily to keep drives going and produce points. At halftime the offense had been held scoreless and none of the quarterbacks did much to distinguish themselves with EJ Manuel going 5-11 for 104 yards and a touchdown, Matt Cassel 2-6 for 27 yards and Tyrod Talor finishing 8-13 for 77 yards. Bryce Brown had a few nice runs but fumbled in an early series to end a drive. Jordan gay was 1-3 on field goals, missing from 44 and 48 yards. Ross Cockrell suffered a knee injury that is not believed to be serious, and LaSean McCoy played sparingly with hamstring tightness. After the game coach Rex Ryan said that Cassel would likely be the starter against Carolina in the first preseason game. He expressed disappointment with Brown's fumble and complimented starting right tackle Seantrel Henderson for doing a nice job.

Day 7 Camp Notes: The Bills did some live tackling for the first time in camp during goal line drills in today's practice as they prepare for tomorrow night's scrimmage which now begins at 6pm instead of 7pm. The defense dominated the goal line drills but the offense had some success elsewhere with EJ Manuel and Tyrod Taylor both making good plays for a second straight day. Matt Simms also shined and he was going against the first team defense. Rex Ryan said after practice that he may not decide on a starting quarterback until just before they play the Colts on opening day. Percy Harvin was given the day off and Sammy Watkins sat out as a precaution after leaving early on Thursday with soreness. Fred Jackson injured his hamstring and is expected to be sidelined for around two weeks. Ron Brooks suffered a minor foot injury but should be ready to go for the scrimmage. Ryan said they will play all the veterans tomorrow night. Injury Page.

Bills Make Roster Move: The Bills have added depth to the running back position thanks to the injury suffered by Boobie Dixon. They have signed Eastern Michigan product Bronson Hill and released DE Erik Williams. Hill is an undrafted free agent who ran for 2,357 yards and 11 touchdowns on 421 rush attempts in 42 career games. Front Office Page.
Day 6 Camp Notes: The quarterbacks were front and center on display once again today during practice on another beautiful day at St. Johns Fisher College. EJ Manuel had his best day of training camp by all accounts. Tyrod Taylor continues to show improvement while Matt Cassel continues his steady but unimpressive play. The first team offense went against the second team defense once again. Sammy Watkins left practice early with soreness in his hip. He is expected to be ok. Cyrus Kouandjio returned to the field on a limited basis after leaving early yesterday with a knee injury. Rex Ryan admitted Leodis McKelvin will be out a while with the setback he suffered on his injured ankle. It's in a protective boot and while the coach expects him back at some point, he acknowledged he may miss the beginning of the season. LeSean McCoy returned to practice and participated fully. Kyle Williams took some snaps at tight end.
Dog Bones: The highlight of camp today was after practice when Rex Ryan, as promised, ate a dog bone to raise awareness for the SPCA as part of the "Dog Biscuit Challenge". He liked it enough to have a second biscuit. He then challenged Sidney Pegula, the dog of Terry and Kim Pegula. Whe then "challenged" Terry who ate a bone himself than challenged Marcell Dareus. Never a dull moment in a Rex Ryan training camp.
Day 5 Camp Notes: Greg Roman began installing the read option during yesterday's practice session. The first team offense went against the second team defense yesterday and had more success as you would expect. Tyrod Taylor had his best day of camp that was highlighted by a touchdown bomb to Marquise Goodwin. The running game appears like it is doing well and Rex Ryan said they may have the biggest offensive playbook in league history when it comes to running plays. Charles Clay finally had a few balls thrown his way. Mario Butler had another interception.

Two Suffer Knee Injuries: Cyrus Kouandjio and Jairus Wynn both left practice today with knee injuries. Rex Ryan said after practice he doesn't believe either injury is serious but they will be cautious about the injuries and not rush them back into action. He also said the reason why LeSean McCoy has not been taking part in team drills the past two practices is because of a toe injury that also isn't believed to be serious. He hopes to have his star running back on the field in time for Saturday's scrimmage. Injury Page.
Dixon Out A Month: Rex Ryan said prior to today's practice that Boobie Dixon will miss about a month with a calf injury suffered in practice yesterday. Dixon called it a minor setback on his twitter feed while Ryan said it's a tricky timetable. In positive injury news, TE Chris Manhertz was back on the field and has been taken off the PUP list. Also sitting out practice today from the active roster are Andre Davis, Caleb Holley, Tobais Palmer, BJ Larsen, John Conner, and Clay Burton out. Injury Page.

Day 4 Camp Notes: The Bills held their first night practice in front of a packed house at St. Johns Fisher College yesterday. Sammy Watkins appears back as he was all over the field making plays. LeSean McCoy appeared to have a rest day as he had no team reps. Boobie Dixon left practice early with an undisclosed injury. Fred Jackson took more reps with Dixon and McCoy out and he looked real good. Seantrel Henderson got a few reps with the first unit at right tackle. EJ Manuel had a good day after another slow start connecting on a few nice pass plays. Tyrod Taylor had the best throw of the entire camp when on the run he hit Watkins on a bomb. Bryce Brown had a fumble which isn't good news for him. Caleb Holley was checked out by trainers near the end of practice. Still sitting out were Leodis McKelvin, Dan Carpenter, Chris Manhertz, Cam Thomas, John Conner, B.J. Larsen, and Clay Burton.

Kromer Back: Aaron Kromer is back with the team and coaching the offensive line. He will be with the team until opening week and then he will serve his six game suspension. He read a statement to the media that said, "I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to be back here at training camp. How grateful I am for Terry Pegula, Kim Pegula, Russ Brandon and of course Rex (Ryan) for allowing me back to do my job. I’m sure everybody wants to hear about what happened over the last couple of weeks and I’m not at liberty to talk about it. All I can say right now is I’m excited about being back here working with the talent that we have here on the offensive line, and making them the best they can be in this training camp for the season. That’s my whole goal and my whole focus at this point and excited to be able to do that. Thank you.” He did not take questions.
Bills Add CB: The Bills added depth to their cornerback corps today by re-signing Merrill Noel. He was with the Bills after signing with the team in May before being released six weeks later. The Bills are short bodies at corner with the ongoing injury issue with Leodis McKelvin. The roster is now at the 90 man limit. Depth Chart.
Kromer Suspended Six Games: The Bills announced last night that they have suspended OL Coach Aaron Kromer without play for the first six games of the season. Kromer was on paid administrative leave after being arrested for allegedly assaulting a teenager. The charges were dropped last week when the victims' families asked for it after a settlement was reached. Bills Managing Partner and President Russ Brandon released this statement, "over the past several weeks the Bills organization has gathered information regarding the incident involving Offensive Line Coach Aaron Kromer. Today we have concluded our investigation and the Buffalo Bills will suspend Coach Kromer without pay for the first six games of the 2015 NFL regular season. The suspension will begin on Monday, September 7, 2015 and end with the conclusion of the Buffalo Bills vs. Cincinnati Bengals game on October 18, 2015. We worked in conjunction with the NFL on this matter and we are highly supportive of the NFL Personal Conduct Policy that holds all NFL and club employees to a higher standard. We look forward to Coach Kromer rejoining the Bills organization at Training Camp.” The Buffalo News reports he will be at camp in time for tonight's practice and the Bills are considering donating his salary during the suspension to charity.
