Bills Bounce Back In Miami

Gameday Grades: It was a dominating effort for the Bills and as you can guess the grades are very good this week. Gameday Grades.

Bills Blowout Dolphins 41-14: The Bills scored touchdowns on their first two possessions and never looked back as they dominated throughout in a 41-14 victory over Miami to move into a second place tie with the Jets in the AFC East. Tyrod Taylor completed 21 of 29 passes for 277 yards and threw touchdown passes to Charles Clay, LeSean McCoy, and Chris Hogan in the rout. Preston Brown intercepted two passes and returned one 43 yards for a touchdown late in the first half to help the Bills build a 27-0 halftime lead. Karlos Williams added an exclamation point on the win with a 41 yard touchdown run late in the game. Dan Carpenter hit field goals from 26 and 51 yards out but did miss a long field goal. The Bills pressured Ryan Tannehill all day and forced him to throw three interceptions and rookie Ronald Darby got his second pick of the year. Bills Blitz.

Watkins, Miller Hurt: Sammy Watkins and John Miller left the game in the first quarter. Watkins suffered a calf injury while Miller suffered a groin injury. Both were quickly labeled questionable to return and neither did return. Miller stayed in uniform while Watkins was in street clothes in the 2nd half. Tyrod Taylor had his knee rolled up on a bit but he stayed in the game. LeSean McCoy was more limited than usual from his hamstring injury. He was seen riding the stationary bike a lot on the sidelines between series. Ronald Darby took two shots from his teammate Bacarri Rambo and was shaken up both times but returned both times and got an interception. Marcell Dareus limped off after blocking for an interception return but returned to get a sack. Boobie Dixon was shaken up twice and left the game momentarily in the second half. Injury Page.

Gameday Inactives: Two players, and possibly a third, are inactive because of injuries. Aaron Williams and Marquise Goodwin were ruled out on Friday. Tony Steward is inactive again but he may have been healthy enough to play. He had been sidelined with a sprained MCL but Rex Ryan said he should be healthy enough to play so he may be out may be because of numbers. The completely healthy scratches are: Gabe Ikard, Andre Fluellen, Alex Carrington, and Chris Gragg. Jonathan Meeks is active for Aaron Williams after being elevated from the practice squad this week. Carrington is inactive instead of Stefan Charles who was inactive last week. For Miami as expected starting left tackle Branden Albert is sitting out but questionable players Lamar Miller and Jordan Cameron are playing.

Gameday Weather: It will be typical South Florida weather for today's game so the Bills players need to make sure they are properly hydrated. The game will be played under mostly cloudy skies with a 50% chance of scattered thunderstorms. The gametime temperature will be about 87° but with the humidity it will feel like the upper 90s. Winds will be light out of the ESE at 7mph.

Goodwin, Williams Out: Marquise Goodwin and Aaron Williams have been ruled out for this week's game against Miami. Goodwin returned to practice this week on a limited basis but sat out Friday. Aaron Williams is still hurting from the neck stinger he suffered last Sunday and has been out of practice all week. Tony Steward and Marcus Easley are listed as questionable. Easley has been hampered by a back injury the past two days and Steward just returned to practice this week after suffering a MCL injury in the preseason. LeSean McCoy, Jerry Hughes, Dan Carpenter, Colton Schmidt, Percy Harvin, and Tyrod Taylor are all probable and are expected to play. For Miami, starting left tackle Branden Albert is listed as doubtful and is not expected to play. Injury Page.

Marquise Goodwin and Tony Steward were limited again as well. LeSean McCoy and Percy Harvin were full go after getting a day off Wednesday. For the Dolphins, Branden Albert sat out for a second straight day making the starting left tackle's status for Sunday very up in the air. DE Cameron Wake was a full go and RB Lamar Miller practiced on a limited basis. Injury Page.

AFC East Big Storylines: Check out our latest edition of the AFC East roundtable where we take a look at which division game from week 2 had the biggest storyline. Our friends from New York Jet Fuel, PatsFans.com, and Phin Maniacs gives their thoughts as well. Complete Story.

Dolphins Game Preview: The Bills head to sunny and hot South Florida for the Dolphins home opener at Sun Life Stadium. The Bills will be battling the heat and a Miami team that has struggled the first two weeks of the season. This is a huge early season battle between two 1-1 teams who may be in a dogfight for the same playoff spot at the end of the season. Complete Preview.

Wednesday September 23, 2015

Meeks Promoted: The Bills filled their open roster spot created by the trading of Matt Cassel. They elevated Jonathan Meeks from the practice squad and filled that spot with former Cowboys QB Dustin Vaughan. He was an undrafted free agent in 2014 from West Texas A&M and spent the whole year on the Cowboys active roster but did not appear in a game. Front Office Page.

Big Injuries For Dolphins: Jerry Hughes is a new name on the injury report for the Bills with a wrist injury. He was limited. Dan Carpenter, Colton Schmidt, and Tyrod Taylor are on the report but were full go. For Miami T Branden Albert, RB Lamar Miller, and TE Jordan Cameron were all out of practice today. DE Cameron Wake and S Reshad Jones were among those who were limited. Injury Page.

Cassel Trade A Positive For EJ: Rex Ryan took many questions at his media day press conference on the trade of Matt Cassel. He said they weren't actively seeking to trade him but the Dallas offer came in and they decided to make the move. He feels the move is more about developing EJ Manuel which they can do better as a number two guy instead of a third string guy who doesn't dress for games. They were happy with Cassel but said EJ almost beat him out for the backup job out of training camp.

Goodwin, Steward Return: For the first time since training camp Marquise Goodwin and Tony Steward returned to practice. It is not known yet on if they will be ready to play against Miami. Aaron Williams did not practice as his neck is still very sore. He is wearing a brace. Percy Harvin go this usual Wednesday rest day. LeSean McCoy also sat with his nagging hamstring issue. Injury Report.

Tuesday September 22, 2015

Cassel Traded: The Bills have traded Matt Cassel to the Dallas Cowboys for a conditional draft pick. Jason LaCanfora reports it is a 5th round pick in 2017. Vic Carucci reports that the Bills will also give the Cowboys back a 7th round pick in that same draft. The Cowboys are in desperate need for a signal caller with the injury to Tony Romo. The move put EJ Manuel back in as the #2 QB. The team will likely look to add a third QB to either the active roster or the practice squad. Right now they have an open roster spot. Depth Chart.

Painful Loss: Our columnist Tony Bogyo let his guard down. His optimistic side took over after the big win over the Colts. Now he's paying the price as he has to go through another week in Patriot country after a Bills loss to New England. Complete Story.

Monday September 21, 2015

Aaron OK: Rex Ryan said during today's press conference that Aaron Williams was at the facility today. He was very sore and wearing a neck brace but the main thing is that he's ok. He called it a stretch that Williams will be ready to play this week. Ryan also said that after looking at the film it was as bad as they thought it would be. He understands the need to control their emotions in a big game and he was embarrassed by the result. He would like to see Tyrod Taylor step up in the pocket more. Injury Page.
