Ryan Presser: Rex Ryan began making a joke about his winning the offseason comment going over well. He said he's very excited to be back at St. Johns Fisher. He spoke of the death of his father calling him much tougher than himself. The coach is disappointed with Karlos Williams and his suspension. They hope he can learn from it and get past it. The people they have in the organization to help will hopefully make a difference. They will not put players at risk and get them on the field if they aren't ready. On IK Enemkpali he will get a chance with Manny Lawson sidelined but others will get a look as well. They may let it ride for a bit but some linebackers may learn both outside and inside linebacker as they look for versatility. The biggest learning thing was for himself and they will play the proven system he has always played. He's excited about the team and the committment they are making to each other. They are trying to take advantage of some of the great coaches that they have and he thinks the defense will be better, how much remains to be seen. They will do everything in their power to be the best team they can be. They don't want to let themselves down or the fans down either. Marquise Goodwin will be fighting for a position like anyone else. They have four or five receivers that have played in the league fighting for positions. Goodwin's speed is an advantage so he would love it if he can win a spot on the team but you have to earn it. He needs to be smart to avoid the injuries that have plagued his career. He see's the confident the team has in Tyrod Taylor he can beat you with his arm and his legs. He doesn't put the team in jeopardy as he takes care of the football which is an important trait in a quarterback. He raved about Doug Whaley saying they have a great GM and the two have seen eye to eye since the beginning. When it is all said and done Whaley will be one of those special guys like Ozzie Newsome. Ryan echoed the comments of LeSean McCoy saying he is motivated and driven and that is scary. The coach said Seantrel Henderson looks good and it is encouraging that he passed the conditioning test.
Whaley Presser: Doug Whaley addressed the media and spoke of the reserve list players, four of the players have illnesses and the only new injury on the list is to Manny Lawson who got hurt just before coming to camp with an upper body injury. Whaley wouldn't speculate on how long he would be sidelined. Karlos Williams has his weight down from last month but he's not in condition to practice yet. They will be very diligent and concious of getting all the injured players ready for Baltimore on opening day and not push them to get back sooner than they are ready in training camp. All signs on the progress of Shaq Lawson is positive but they will keep all options open including starting him on the PUP list on the regular season. Whaley said lines of communications are open in contract talks with Stephon Gilmore and Tyrod Taylor. They are confident that Sammy Watkins will be ready for opening day barring any setbacks. Whaley put an end to talks that the team would look at Nick Foles saying they are standing pat at quarterback. They will still look at players and will hold a workout in a week or two. They won't be splitting the squad into two for training camp practices like they did last year since there isn't an open competition at quarterback.
10 Placed On Lists: On the eve of the official start of training camp the Bills placed 10 players on various reserve lists. Manny Lawson and Kolby Listenbee were placed on the Active/Non-Football Injury list. Marcus Easley, Shaq Lawson, Sammy Watkins, and Kyle Williams are on the Active/PUP list. Marcell Dareus, Jonathan Dowling, Seantrel Henderson, and Karlos Williams are on the Active/Non-Football Illness list.
Player Pressers: Several players addressed the media after today's conditining drills. Marcell Dareus spoke to reporters today and said he is at 315 pounds which is 10 less than last year. He feels the team will be making a run at the playoffs and advised everyone to "sit back and watch". Robert Woods said that the team must use the middle of the field in the passing game more this year. Stephon Gilmore said after weighing his options he realized reporting to camp on time was the right move for him. On his contract status he said nobody likes to be franchised tag so he hopes to avoid it. He said he knows what he is worth but doesn't know what the possiblity of getting a new deal before the season starts and doesn't want to talk contract during the season. He did say he wants to stay in Buffalo. On the field, he feels the team has one of the best secondaries in the league. LeSean McCoy said he got to work this offseason. He says he has a lot to prove and a big chip on his shoulder, he feels healthy. He is at 210 pounds and is the lightest he has been in years. On his off the field incident, he said he spoke to Roger Goodell at length about it and knows as a leader those things can't happen. He said the Pegulas were real supportive about the incident.
Players On The Field: The players began reporting yesterday and will finish reporting today. Tyrod Taylor and Stephon Gilmore were two of the players that were already at St. Johns Fisher College yesterday. The players did some conditioning drills this morning and Seantrel Henderson was on the field along with Sammy Watkins which was a nice sight to see that both players were at least on the field. Karlos Williams was also on the field as he rounds back into shape.

Taylor Contract Talks: Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News reports that the Bills and representatives for Tyrod Taylor are still in frequent conversations about a new contract. While a deal is not considered imminent, a source told the paper that a deal is possible before the season starts. That is a departure from the talk that the Bills still want to see more from Taylor on the field before committing to him as the franchise quarterback. It's a tricky negotiation as Taylor is highly under paid with his $3.1 Million salary for the coming season and the Bills are cautious before paying him the $20 Million a year going rate for a quality starting QB until he has a larger body of work. The paper also says there has been very little talk or progress on a new deal for Stephon Gilmore. If the Bills end up locking up Taylor long term that would free up the franchise tag to use on Gilmore next offseason.

Bush Deal Coming? Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News reports that a deal with Reggie Bush could be coming soon. Reports last week said the Bills were interested in signing the veteran who is coming off an ACL injury. The team is looking to add depth at running back with the upcoming four game suspension to Karlos Williams and the DWI arrest of Jonathan Williams. Bush would become the favorite to win the punt returning job as well. NFL sources told the Buffalo News that the two sides were working out the deal points. The source told the paper that he thinks the talks will result in a deal. The 10 year vet has played for the Saints, Dolphins, Lions, and 49ers.
Bills Add Kromer's Son: The Bills have hired Zak Kromer as an entry level coaching assistant. He is the son of OL coach Aaron Kromer. Both Kromer's were involved in the incident last summer that resulted in a six game suspension of Aaron Kromer at the beginning of last season. Both men were charged with misdemeanor battery for the incident. Zak Kromer was a student assistant the last four years with University of Oklahoma football team.

Gilmore To Show Up At Camp: The contract situation of Stephon Gilmore has been a story all offseason and continues as we get set for training camp. Gilmore told ESPN's Josina Anderson that he will indeed show up for training camp. He had skipped all offseason workouts except the mandatory minicamp. It isn't a suprise that he is going to show up at camp since he would face heavy fines if he didn't. He said last week that he his done negotiating until after the season. He will play this season under the club option of $11.082 Million. Gimore left it up in the air that he would report to camp on time when he was very coy about his plans while talking to the media during last month's minicamp. Gilmore told Anderson that "I'm planning to go out to training camp. I know what I am. It'll happen eventually."
