Roman Statement: Greg Roman released a statement to the Buffalo News that stated, "I just want to thank the Pegulas for the opportunity to work in Buffalo, Russ Brandon, Doug Whaley, Rex Ryan and the entire Bills organization -- all the great players and coaches I got to work with. I want to thank all the great fans of Buffalo for all and we love the community of Buffalo. I wish the Bills' organization the best moving forward."
Albright To Practice Squad: As we predicted yesterday the Bills have added Bryson Albright to the practice squad. They cut him to add Gabe Ikard to the roster because they needed numbers along the offensive line. Albright cleared waivers and took Ikard's spot on the practice squad. Front Office Page.
Ryan Presser: Rex Ryan addressed the media this afternoon and all the talk was about the firing of Greg Roman. Reports say that the Pegulas were unhappy with the offense and that they wanted Rex to make a move to appease the disgruntaled fan base. The coach said they agreed to part ways and he thinks the move helps the football team. He said he appreciates Roman and the job he did for them he still believes he's a tremendous coach. He recognizes that this isn't an ideal situation to make a change but since they have a couple of extra days it was the right time to do it. He thinks they need a change and he thinks Anthony Lynn will call plays that gets the ball into their playmakers hands. He said they ahve a very inclusive staff that has worked together for a while and it will be that way going forward. Ryan said he informed ownership of his decision and they supported it. He said he's accountable for everything that goes on and for making these decisions. They will carry the verbage they have in place so they don't change too much. He understands people questioning the firing of the offensive coordinator after the poor defensive performance but this was the move he thought he had to make to move the team forward and he's not looking back. If he felt there was something else he should have done on defense he would do that. He feels Tyrod Taylor has amazing ability and is a rare talent but they have to do things that will showcase his unique abilities. They do need to develop his weaknesses to have an opportunity to get better and he thinks he will. Lynn was the only guy he thought of to replace Roman. He is an outstanding coach and he's fortunate to have him for the past eight years and they know what they are getting and are excited about it. People in the NFL know that he is a solid coach. He can coach anybody and commands respect. He has the respect of the entire locker room. He said that Greg was not a scapegoat. He wouldn't have made it if he didn't think it would help this football team. He knows Lynn is ready for the ball in his hands. He thinks it will be a great decision. He thinks Sammy Watkins is an incredible talent and they will try to get him the ball more and more like they did at the end of last season. He seems to be moving away a bit from ground and pound saying that has followed him forever but they want to be a multiple offense and be able to pass more.
My Take On Roman Fired: Hours after the defense got torched the Bills of course continued their disfunction by firing Offensive Coordinator Greg Roman. Assistant head coach/RB coach Anthony Lynn has been promoted to offensive coordinator. Before the season Roman was being praised as an innovative coordinator who was the highest paid offensive coordinator in the league. People thought he had a chance to be a big head coaching candidate. Now after the defense failed miserably last night Roman was made the scapegoat. The offense has been struggling but changing coordinators during the season will do nothing to help the development Tyrod Taylor or the offense as a whole. Lynn has been with Rex Ryan for years so the coach chose one of his crony's to be elevated while someone not in his inner circle takes the fall for the pathetic start of the season. It never ceases to amaze me how disfunctional this team can be. They may have now hit rock bottom in this about to be 17 year playoff drought. Of course the way this team goes rock bottom may never come.
Gameday Grades: Last week the offense was awful and the defense was great. Five days later the offense made plays but the defense was absolutely terrible. The bottom line is the team is now 0-2 and going nowhere fast. Gameday Grades.

Bills Blitz: Ryan Fitzpatrick led a highly tuned offensive attack to victory and put an end to the talks that Rex Ryan owns him. Fitzpatrick finished 24 for 34 for a whopping 374 yards and Matt Forte added three touchdowns as the Jets beat the Bills 37-31. The Bills were outplayed as the defense struggled all night. They were only in the game for a while thanks to the long ball and a defensive touchdown. Tyrod Taylor had scoring strikes of 84 yards to Marquise Goodwin and 71 yards to Greg Salas. The Bills actually scored 14 points in the first 3:45 of the second half to take a short lived lead. The Salas touchdown was followed by Nickell Robey-Coleman returning a fumble for a score. One of the rare defensive highlights. The Jets regained control quickly responding to the Bills 17 unanswered points with 17 of their own. Mike Gillislee ended the scoring with an 18 yard touchdown reception to make the final score close again. Bills Blitz.
Injury Update: The Bills seemd to get through the game pretty healthy but late in the game things went downhill there as well. Marquise Goodwin got hurt on the final play of the game as he couldn't get up to get off the field after making a catch. He is in the concussion protocol. Sammy Watkins played and seemed ok but was not on the field in the final two drives. Rex Ryan didn't know if it was related to his foot. Jerry Hughes left for a bit when he bit his toungue and was bleeding but he returned. Tyrod Taylor was taken out of the game to be looked at for a concussion but quickly returned when he was obviously ok. Injury Page.
Gameday Inactives: Colt Anderson, Cordy Glenn, and Cardale Jones are inactive. Anderson and Glenn were ruled out yesterday and Jones is battling a shoulder issue and is the third QB anyway. Sammy Watkins is active even though there have been conflicting reports all week on his playing status. The other inactives are Brandon Spikes, Patrick Lewis, Jonathan Williams, and Jordan Gay. That means Dan Carpenter handles kickoffs and Walter Powell is active as a sixth receiver probably in case Sammy Watkins is limited.
Roster Move: The Bills have made a roster move before tonight's game as they were down numbers on the offensive line. They activated Gabe Ikard from the practice squad and to make room they released LB Bryson Albright. That means both undrafted free agents kept on the opening roster are now gone. Albright will be a prime candidate to take Ikard's spot on the practice squad if he clears waivers. Ikard will likely be active to be the main interior linemen backup. They will have to slide Ryan Groy to be the swing tackle with Cordy Glenn out and Seantrel Henderson suspended. Depth Chart.
Gameday Weather: It will be a perfect night in Orchard Park for the home opening prime time affair. Fall will be in the air as it will be clear and cool with a gametime temperature of 63°. dropping into the mid 50s before the game ends. There will be little wind out of the ENE at 6mph.

Glenn Out; Watkins Questionable: The Bills have ruled out Cordy Glenn for the game against the Jets with his ankle injury. Colt Anderson has also been ruled out. Sammy Watkins leads the list of players listed as questionable. With no probable designations this year many more people are listed as questionable. Jim Dray, Charles Clay, Kevon Seymour, and Cardale Jones are also listed as questionable. Nobody is listed as doubtful. The Jets took many people off of their injury report with LB Jordan Jenkins and CB Darryl Roberts listed as doubtful while backup QB Bryce Petty remains out. Muhammad Wilkerson, David Harris, and Bruce Carter are questionable. Injury Page.
Game Preview: A lot is on the line as the Bills have an eagerly anticipated prime time home opener against the division rival Jets. Rex Ryan has owned Ryan Fitzpatric as a head coach and a defensive coordinator. Both teams will be desperate to get the sour taste out of their mouths from opening day losses. This makes this a very important early season matchup of two fairly evenly matched teams on paper.
Complete Preview.

Watkins Listed As DNP: Sammy Watkins officially was listed as did not participate on the Tuesday practice report. The team is not having real practices in the short week but they are required to designate players that wouldn't practice if they did. Tyrod Taylor described him as limited. James Worthy, Cordy Glenn, and Colt Anderson also were listed as did not participate. Jim Dray, Kevon Seymour, Charles Clay, and Cardale Jones are listed as limited. Injury Report.
Glenn Sitting: Rex Ryan said today he won't rule out Cordy Glenn but they will see how he progresses in this short week. He is not practicing today making it less likely he will be ready for Thursday night. Sammy Watkins was working with trainers inside the fieldhouse while the team was on the practice field. Ryan said that if Sammy says he will be ready he will take him at his word. Jerel Worthy told Sal Capaccio yesterday he will be ready but he was not taking part in the walkthrough today. He was on the field with no helmet. Jim Dray returned to practice today. The coach said that this is just another game now and he won't make it a big deal like his return to Met Life Stadium last year. He did say that the fans will be pumped and focused and they can't let them down. He doesn't want the team to be overly amped up like before last year's home game against New England.
Practice Squad Move: Another day another practice squad move. The Bills have brought back OT Chris Martin probably in reaction to the team being down to just two healthy tackles. To make room they released CB Doran Grant from the unit. Front Office Page.
Final Look Back: Our columnist Tony Bogyo is back this year to take a look at each Bills game. As you can imagine he doesn't think much of the opening day loss. It could be the beginning of a very early end to the 2016 season after a very grim performance by the Bills offensively in Baltimore on Sunday. Tony does what he does best he uses a great analogy how opening day was like Christmas but being very disappointed with your gifts. Complete Story.

Watkins Says He'll Play: Sammy Watkins addressed the media late this afternoon and said the drama about his foot today is much to do about nothing. He said he will definitely play on Thursday night. He disputed reports as very inaccurate that he had an issue a couple of weeks ago with it. He said it isn't even sore, it was just tired after the game so he had it checked out. Everything came out fine and he's good to go. He wouldn't rule out getting it checked after future games as well as they are being careful with it. Watkins said he doesn't know if he's 95 or 100 percent but the foot is fine and he's ready to go. It is the type of thing that gets better with more reps. Injury Page.
Ryan Presser: Rex Ryan addressed the media this afternoon as a post mortem to yesterday's loss. Rex Ryan welcomed NYC area media saying the WNY area is underrated for food. What wasn't good was their performance on the field on Sunday and they won't be able to practice besides walkthroughs in a short week. The trouble is they are facing an even better defense on Thursday night. Sammy complained about his foot being sore after the game they will see how he progresses during the week with that. The Sammy Watkins injury situation was the hot topic of discussion. The first question was how worried he is about Sammy. He says he's sore and they are concerned with every injury. They hope he will progress and be ready to roll. They are not thinking about shutting him down right now. Ryan is sure Watkins will be out there this week but it's just walkthroughs this week. His conversations with the trainers were about him being sore after the game but he side stepped the possibility that he won't be able to play because of the short week. He thought he went through the game 100 percent healthy but was sore afterwards. When pressed he said he is confident he will be able to play. In other injury news, Cordy Glenn did not return with an ankle injury and he's not sure how bad it is. It is the same ankle he hurt in the preseason. Jim Dray also re-injured the same injury he had in the preseason. James Worthy won't practice, if there was one, because he didn't finish the game on Sunday. He thinks they will get Kevon Seymour back this week. They brought Jerome Felton back because they know he's a great blocker and it was an opportunity to bring him back.
Felton Returning? Jerome Felton is on his way back to Buffalo as the team has re-signed the veteran fullback. Not a surprise after the poor running game yesterday. Glenn Gronkowski has been released after he saw just eight snaps yesterday. A spot on the practice squad is definitely possible for him down the line but not right now as S Damian Parms was put back on that unit.
Watkins Shutdown? First there was the report from Adam Schefter yesterday that Sammy Watkins wasn't 100 percent now Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News is reporting he is going to be shutdown for weeks with a foot injury. Jason LaCanfora reports that he is having issues with the screws in his foot from his offseason surgery. It is a pain management thing if he can play through the pain he can continue playing. The Bills don't reportedly see any procedure that will alleviate the issue for Watkins after continued consultation with doctors. Joe Buscaglia also confirmed the reports that he can miss several weeks if he can't play through the pain. They are waiting to see how the foot responds over the next couple of days. With a quick turnaround to Thursday's game it may be hard for Watkins to get back on the field this quickly. He had x-rays last night that reportedly came back negative. Renowned foot specialist Robert Anderson is not advising additional surgery at this time. Ian Rapoport reports that the Bills aren't planning on shutting him down they will see if he can play through the pain. The preseason woes just keep getting worse as the Bills are already deflated following a 13-7 loss yesterday. A loss Thursday night can cause the season to spiral out of control pretty quickly.
