Bills Lose As Always To Patriots

Sunday December 3, 2017

Gameday Grades: The defense put up a valant effort before they wore out after getting no help from a very weak offensive effort. Gameday Grades.

Bills Blitz: The Bills defense played a good bend but don't break defense in the first half to keep them in the game but Tom Brady does what he always does and took the game over with the help of a strong running game as the Patriots beat the Bills 23-3. Tyrod Taylor struggled mightily after a promising opening drive ended in a goal line interception by former Bills practice squad player Eric Lee. Rex Burkhead ran for two scores as Brady didn't need to beat them with his arm this time. Bills Blitz.

Injury Update: Tyrod Taylor injured his knee on the first play of the game and was gimpy for a bit. He played three quarters before the he had to come out of the game with the injury and was carted off the field. Coach McDermott said he's still being evaluated but there is a report he says he's ok. He is expected to have an MRI on Monday. Tre'Davious White is in concussion protocol after the cheap shot by Gronk. Leonard Johnson suffered a knee injury in the third quarter and jogged off the locker room and was able to return to the game. Shaq Lawson also left the game with an ankle injury and was carted to the locker room. He did not return. Injury Page.

Gameday Inactives: The Bills eneter this game with several injuries. Kelvin Benjamin, John Miller, Mike Tolbert, and Cordy Glenn were all ruled out on Friday leaving just three spots for scratches and seven players that were listed as questionable. Charles Clay, Jordan Matthews, Seantrel Henderson, Conor McDermott, Patrick DiMarco, Nick O'Leary, and Eddie Yarbrough. O'Leary is inactive with his back injury. McDermott is also inactive but he most likely would be inactive even if healthy since he normally is. That leaves just Shareece Wright as the only healthy scratch.

Gameday Weather: It will be absolutely balmy for a December game in Orchard Park. The game will be played under a mix of sun and clouds with a high temperature of 49°. Winds will be out of southwest at 8mph gusting to 14mph.

McDermott Friday Update: Cordy Glenn, Kelvin Benjamin, John Miller, and Mike Tolbert have been ruled out for the game. Seantrel Henderson, Eddie Yarbrough, Nick O'Leary, and Patrick DiMarco will be listed as questionable for the game. Henderson has an illness. LeSean McCoy will not practice today with knee soreness but they expect him to play. Injury Page.

Thursday November 30, 2017

Thursday Injury Update: Not too much has changed on the injury report for today. Eddie Yarbrough was back on the field and limited with his chest injury after sitting out yesterday. LeSean McCoy was added to the injury report with a knee injury but he was a full participant. Patrick DiMarco did not practice after being listed as a full participant yesterday with an ankle injury. Mike Tolbert remains sidelined meaning both fullbacks are in danger of not playing on Sunday. Injury Report.

Game Preview: The Bills head back to Orchard Park for their first of three straight home games. It gets off to a very tough start as the Patriots come to town. Tom Brady has never lost to the Bills in the 2nd half of the season in a game that has mattered so it will be a very tough task for Buffalo. Complete Preview.

Benjamin Likely Out: Kelvin Benjamin was working on the sidelines during today's practice and did some agility drills and was moving pretty good. He said after practice, where he was officially listed as a non participant, he feels it is very unlikely he plays on Sunday. He did say he will be back before the season is over. Our injury page is updated with the Wednesday practice report for both teams. Don't get too excited seeing that Tom Brady didn't practice, he sits on Wednesdays a lot. Injury Page.

Injury Update: Coach McDermott said today that Kelvin Benjamin remains day to day with his torn meniscus and will not practice today. Cordy Glenn, Mike Tolbert, Nick O'Leary, Eddie Yarbrough, and John Miller will not practice. All of these guys except Glenn are day to day as well. The coach said the situation with Glenn is status quo and he thinks he's getting better. Refuses to say he may be gone for the season but did say for the first time there is no timetable for his return. Charles Clay and Jordan Matthews will be limited. Colt Anderson is eligible to come off of IR but the coach said he's still going through things. Injury Page.

Bogyo Column: Tony Bogyo checks in with his latest column in which he talks about the team being in No Man's Land as they head towards another mediocre finish but he has decided to enjoy it. Complete Story.

Monday November 27, 2017

Benjamin Does Have Torn Meniscus: The twists and turns of the Kelvin Benjamin injury took another turn after today's press conference fromm Coach McDermott. He said no when asked if he had a torn meniscus. The Bills PR staff then released a statement saying he does have a torn meniscus and the coach thought he was being asked about ligament damage which he does not have. What is just as weird is that he continues to say he's day to day on an injury that normally makes players miss at least four weeks. Injury Page.

McDermott Presser: Sean McDermott addressed the media this afternoon after yesterday's win. He said they changed the looks and combinations on defense which helped against the run. Gap integrity and technique helped the defense rebound this week against the run. Lorenzo Alexander played in different spots than in other weeks. Starting Eddie Yarbrough was because of a situation between Shaq Lawson and himself that he will keep to himself indicating it may have been a disciplinary issue that had Yarbrough start. Lawson did play in the game. There have been signs of improvement on defense if you drill down and it showed yesterday. On E.J. Gaines he said he's a good player that understands the game and knows concepts and they are fortunate to have him. The Bills are 5-2 when he plays. He has worked hard with trainers to get him back on the field and it was a big game for him yesterday going back home. McDermott said he's aware of the Patriots success over the years but wouldn't comment on their dominance over the years of the Bills. They have their work cut out for them and he respects the sustained success of the Patriots. It is a headache and a lot of long hours preparing for them. On the backup running back situation he said he likes both of those backs and there is a good thing going on with Travaris Cadet and how far he's come in a short period of time with his physical play. They need to continue to improve and grow and learn from the mistakes they made yesterday. Kelvin Benjamin is still day to day and is working hard to come back. He said the report by Adam Schefter on the torn meniscus is not true. He knows most people don't believe in them and he is using it to their advantage and it showed yesterday. He showed the players that 17 of 19 media members picked them to lose and they used it to their advantage.

Practice Squad Move: The Bills have signed CB Lorenzo Doss to the practice squad and released OL Will Pericak from that unit. Doss was a 5th round pick of the Broncos in 2015 and was released by them last week. He has 15 NFL games under his belt mostly on special teams. Depth Chart.

Benjamin Injury More Serious? Adam Schefter reported on ESPN that Kelvin Benjamin has a torn meniscus which would likely mean he will miss another few weeks and have surgery before returning. Sean McDermott said last week that he had no ligament damage. He may say more at this afternoon's press conference. Injury Page.
