Bills Win Wild OT Snow Game
Sunday December 10, 2017
Gameday Grades: I have decided not to do the grades this week. Doesn't seem to be a point to it as the weather makes it very tough and not fair to evaluate the players.
Bills Blitz: It was a winter wonderland at New Era Field as the Bills and Colts lvoed battling in a snowstorm so much they decided to put in some overtime. LeSean McCoy ran 21 yards for the winning score with just 1:33 to go in the extra session and a tie looming. McCoy finished the game with 156 yards rushing on 32 carries. Nathan Peterman hit Kelvin Benjamin for an 8 yard touchdown just before halftime to give the Bills the 7-0 halftime lead. He left in the second half with a concussion and Joe Webb had to finish the game. The Colts scored a game tying touchdown pass from Jacoby Brissett to Jack Doyle with 1:16 left in regulation. The Colts appeared to have taken the lead when Doyle caught a two point conversion but a late flag for an illegal pick forced the Colts to settle for the long extra point. Webb than threw an interception but Adam Vinatieri missed his second field goal of the game to force overtime. McCoy's late heroics were setup by a beautiful 34 yard bomb from Webb to Deonte Thompson coming out of the 2:00 warning of the extra session. Bills Blitz.
Injury Update: Nate Peterman took a shot to the head and left the game and is in concussion protocol. Kelvin Benjamin left the game after hurting his knee again. He briefly returned before leaving for good. Jordan Mills left briefly before returning after hurting his leg. Charles Clay hurt his knee after making a third quarter catch but was quickly cleared to return. Injury Page.
Gameday Inactives: Tyrod Taylor was inactive with his knee injury. Other injured players not dressing includ Leonard Johnson was was questionable with a knee injury. Seantrel Henderson who has a back injury. Cordy Glenn with his ongoing foot and ankle injuries and John Miller who was ruled out on Friday with his ankle injury. That leaves Khari Lee and Brandon Reilly as the healthy scratches.
No Taylor: Adam Schefter reported early this morning that per sources Nathan Peterman will start for the Bills today against the Colts. It is unknown if Tyrod Taylor will be active as the backup or inactive.
Gameday Weather: December weather has arrived in Orchard Park for today's game between the Bills and the Colts. Snow is expected during the game with high winds as well. The temperature for the game is expected to be 30° with winds out of the West at around 20mph.

Friday Presser: Sean McDermott addressed the media before the final practice in preparation for the Colts. He thought Tyrod Taylor made good progress this week and they will see what he does today, he's going to be limited in practice. He's getting a little bit better each day. They still don't know who will start at quarterback on Sunday, it will be a gametime decision. He said Taylor may get some team reps today and there is a scenario where he dresses but is the backup to Nathan Peterman. They will not put him in a position where he can make the injury worse. Kyle Williams is a bit ahead of Tyrod and he expects him to play. Travaris Cadet has cleared concussion protocol and is ready to go for Sunday. Cordy Glenn will be limited again today and they will wait and see if he will be ready to go on Sunday. John Miller has been ruled out again and the coach thinks Kelvin Benjamin will be able to return. Injury Page.

White Cleared: Tre'Davious White has cleared concussion protocol and should be ready to play on Sunday. He spoke to the media after practice today and didn't hold back when talking about the hit by Rob Gronkowski. He told the media, "the guy did what he wanted to do. He is what he did. Dirty shot, so what does that make him? Dirty player. Simple." He said Gronkowski has not reached out to him since the incident and his apology meant nothing to him according to Mike Rodak of ESPN. He went on to say, "I'm glad I had my mouthpiece in. I probably could've bit my tongue off. I bit my lip pretty bad. Terrible headache. It is what it is. He did what he wanted to do." He called the one game suspension a joke. Thursday Injury Report.
Taylor Back On The Field: Tyrod Taylor returned to the practice field today with a sleeve on his injured knee and moving a bit slowly. He did not take part in team drills and is listed as a limited participant. Travaris Cadet, Kyle Williams, and Charles Clay were among the players who returned to the field today. Richie Incognito got a veteran rest day. Seantrel Henderson sat out again with his back injury and John Miller remains sidelined. Injury Page.
Game Preview: The Bills host the struggling Colts on Sunday and a game that could be a battle of two backup quarterbacks as Jacoby Brissett continues to start for the Luck-less Colts and Nathan Peterman may get the start for the Bills if Tyrod Taylor can't go with his knee injury. Complete Preview.

McDermott Presser: Sean McDermott addressed the media before the start of practice today. Tyrod Taylor, John Miller, Eddie Yarbrough, and Travaris Cadet are not practicing today. Limited today are Charles Clay, Cordy Glenn, Tre'Davious White, Mike Tolbert, Kelvin Benjamin, and Leonard Johnson. White being limited is part of the protocol process the fact he is limited is a decent sign though. Nate Peterman will get the reps in practice today and Joe Webb will also work his way in. They are taking it one day of the time and will not name a starter yet for this week. Cordy Glenn practicing is a step in the right direction. It's always a concern when someone doesn't practice and that's the case with Yarbrough who is he new likely starter with Shaq Lawson on IR. Jordan Matthews on IR was a decision they made because they had to do something with the knee. He will not rule out surgery for him. He expects his team to continue to grow, build, and develop for the rest of the year. He likes how he young players are getting playing time and watching the veteran core on how it is done. That can only help them in the future. Injury Page.

Lawson, Matthews To IR: The Bills have placed Shaq Lawson and Jordan Matthews on injured reserve ending their seasons. Lawson suffered an ankle injury on Sunday and was listed as week to week so putting him on IR is not a surprise. Matthews is a surprise as he has played through a knee injury the past two weeks. To take their spot on the roster the team elevated WR Brandon Reilly and DE Cap Capi from the practice squad. Reilly was a fan favorite in the summer and has been on the scout team all year. Capi was signed two weeks ago, he has four NFL games under his belt for the Giants earlier this year. The team filled their practice squad spots by signing FS Dean Marlowe and P Cory Carter. Marlowe was with the Panthers last year. Front Office Page. Depth Chart.
Bogyo Column: Tony Bogyo couldn't write a column this week because of an unforseen "attack". He released a statement instead about what happened to him. Check out his hilarious account of his encounter with Gronk. Complete Story.

Gronk Suspended: Rob Gronkowski has been suspended one game by the league for his fragant cheap shot assault of Tre'Davious White causing him to go into concussion protocol. He plans to appeal it so he can still get away with the illegal hit. I don't know what he could possible say in an appeal to win it. If it holds it will cost him $281,250 in a game check and incentives. In a letter from the league to Gronkowski said in part, “your actions were not incidental, could have been avoided and placed the opposing player at risk of serious injury.”
Monday Presser: Sean McDermott addressed the media during his normal Monday press conference. Tyrod Taylor is day to day with a patday at ella tendon contusion to his knee, he has no ligament damage. The coach said when healthy, Tyrod is his quarterback this week. They will take it one a time and everything is fluid. They are still in the early stages of the evaluation. Leondard Johnson should be fine and Shaq Lawson is week to week with an ankle injury while Tre'Davious White and Travaris Cadet are in concussion protocol. That leaves the Bills with just one healthy running back at this time but the coach feels Mike Tolbert will practice this week and hopefull be ready to play on Sunday and he hopes the same for Nick O'Leary as well. They also have only three healthy defensive ends and the coach said he will talk to Brandon Beane about that. They feel Kelvin Benjamin is in good position to practice this week which could lead to his return on Sunday. He said he remains confident in Rick Dennison. He is keeping his conversation with Bill Belichick quiet and they have moved on from the Gronk hit. They will leave it in the hands of the league office. He thought the players stood up for White and he is proud with the poise they showed in that situation. He said the longer they talk about the longer it lingers and they need to move forward. He seemed agitated at the line of questioning and seemed to cut the prss conference short at that point. Injury Page.
