Bills Get Another Win To Keep Playoff Hopes On Track

Sunday December 17, 2017

Gameday Grades: The offense made some big plays in the first half and the defense held on in the second half as the Bills keep their playoff hopes very much alive with a big win at home against division rival Miami. Gameday Grades.

Bills Blitz: The Bills playoff hopes are very much alive thanks to their solid 24-16 win over division rival Miami. The Bills finished 6-2 at home for the first time since 1999. They are now 8-6 for only the third time in the drought. They are now assured of being alive for a playoff spot entering the final week of the regular season for the first time since the drought. LeSean McCoy ran for a touchdown, caught a touchdown pass, and went over 10,000 career yards in the win. Tyrod Taylor continued his mastery of the Dolphins as he ran for a score and threw for 224 yards in the win. Bills Blitz.

Injury Update: E.J. Gaines left the game with a Knee injury and did not return. LeSean McCoy seemed to get banged up on his historic run that got him to 10,000 yards but he quickly came back into the game. Injury Page.

Gameday Inactives: Kelvin Benjamin will give it a go in today's game despite limping around the practice field all week with his torn meniscus. He is active after being a gametime decision. The Bills ruled out Nathan Peterman and John Miller on Friday and newly signed Breon Borders didn't have any time to get acclimated so as expected he is inactive. The other healthy scratches are Khari Lee, Mike Tolbert, Conor McDermott, and Brandon Reilly. Cordy Glenn was placed on IR on Friday and is out for the season, he doesn't need to be on the inactive list anymore. It's nice to see the coaches finally see what the rest of us see and have made Tolbert inactive instead of Travaris Cadet who is now the number two running back. Depth Chart.

Gameday Weather: The weather will be much better this week than it was during the snowstorm last week. It will still be cold but what else do you expect a week before Christmas in Orchard Park, NY. It won't that cold however as there will be a high temperature of around 30° under cloudy skies with no snow in the forecast. The winds will be light as well out of the east at 6mph so not a bad day for December football in Western New York.

Renovations To The Cap: The Bills announced that they will renovate the sideline clubs as well as the M&T Bank and Goal Line clubs. The amount of the renovations was not disclosed and the Pegulas will play for the entire renovation. The clubs were untouched by the $130 Million renovation in 2013. The latest upgrades to New Era Field seem to signal that the Pegulas are not thinking of a new stadium at this point.

Roster Spot Filled: The Bills filled the open roster spot vacated by Cordy Glenn going on injured resrve. They have signed CB Breon Borders off of the Raiders practice squad. He had signed with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent this May. He had 12 career interceptions while at Duke. Depth Chart. Front Office Page.

Taylor To Start; Glenn On IR: Sean McDermott addressed the media today and opened the press conference announcing that Cordy Glenn is going on injured reserve after unsuccessfully trying to play through foot and ankle issues. He will undergo a procedure with renowned foot specialist Bob Anderson. He should be ready for the offseason conditioning program. Dion Dawkins has done a phenomenal job at left tackle according to the coach. They will not make a roster move for the open spot at this time but are continually looking at it. The coach officially announced that Tyrod Taylor will start on Sunday. Nathan Peterman remains in concussion protocol and has been ruled out so Joe Webb will backup Taylor who was always going to start if healthy. The coach feels good about the chances for Kelvin Benjamin to play on Sunday but said he remains day to day and will practice some today. Last week he felt that way about Leonard Johnson and he ended up inactive. Benjamin said he expects to play through the injury and is listed as questionable. John Miller did suffer a setback with recovering from his ankle injury and is the only player ruled out for Sunday. Injury Page.

Bills Getting Healthy: Tyrod Taylor and Nathan Peterman both practiced again today and look on track to both be in uniform on Sunday against Miami. A telling sign for that fact was that Joe Webb was not in the QB red jersey in practice today. Both practiced fully and Peterman is still in concussion protocoal. If both can go, Taylor would start according to Coach McDermott. The lone man not practicing today was John Miller which is a bad sign after he returned to practice just yesterday. Kelvin Benjamin was practicing on a limited basis for a second straight day but he was clearly limping on his injured knee. Injury Page.

Game Preview: The Bills wrap up a three game homestand with their home finale against division rival Miami. They take on the Dolphins twice in the final three weeks and they are expected to have Tyrod Taylor back while Miami comes in flying high after an upset win over the Patriots kept their playoff hopes alive. Complete Preview.

Wednesday December 13, 2017

Taylor Full Go: Tyrod Taylor was full go in practice today and is on track to start on Sunday. John Miller and Leonard Johnson were also full go as all three players missed last week's game. Injury Page.

McDermott Presser: Sean McDermott held his usual Wednesday morning press conference. Nathan Peterman is still in concussion protocol but will be limited in practice today. Tyrod Taylor will get most of the work in practice today but not quite all of it. He is still the starter when healthy. Andre Holmes won't practice with neck soreness. Kyle Williams is sitting with his ongoing groin issue. Cordy Glenn is iffy with an illness. Kyle Benjamin, Charles Clay, and Seantrel Henderson will be limited. On the linebacker battle he thought Ramon Humber approached the demotion with class. There is still good competition there and Matt Milano played well last week and is growing. He will get the first team reps again this week. Injury Page. Depth Chart.

Bogyo Column: Tony Bogyo breaks down one heck of a game as the Bills pulled out the win in the snowstorm at New Era field. It made him nostalgic for his childhood days growing up in North Buffalo. Complete Story.

Monday December 11, 2017

McDermott Presser: Sean McDermott held his usual Monday press conference this afternoon. Tyrod Taylor has made progress over the last couple of days and he will be day to day. Nate Peterman is currently in concussion protocol there is no update there. There was a chance Taylor was going to play yesterday but at the end of the day he wasn't able to. How he was feeling was one of the reasons but the weather conditions were also considered. He thought Peterman did some good things that were baked in to their win and he played solid overall. The coach did say when healthy Taylor will be the starter so it looks like if he's ready to go, and he was close this week, he will start against Miami. He feels confident where they are right now at quarterback despite the injuries. Logan Thomas was the next man up at QB if something happened to Joe Webb. Still to early to tell on the injury to Kelvin Benjamin he is being evaluated at this time. The coach was proud of the character his team showed yesterday and the way someone always steps up with Webb being the latest. The coach feels the gameball has to go to the staff and everyone that go the building ready to play and kept it playable. He again mentioned the fans staying around for the whole game making it a great enviornment to be a part of. The resiliency and character of the players and staff says a lot about where they are going.
