Sunday September 10, 2017
Bills Beat Jets 21-12: Tyrod Taylor threw touchdown passes to Charles Clay and Andre Holmes from one yard out while Mike Tolbert had a one yard plunge to lead the Bills to a 21-12 victory over the Jets. The win temporarily puts the Bills in sole possession of first place in the AFC East. LeSean McCoy ran for 110 yards on 22 carries and added 49 yards on five receptions in the win. Complete Story.
Injury Update: LeSean McCoy left the game temporarily with a wrist injury but quickly returned and seemed ok. E.J.Gaines left the game with a shoulder injury and did not return. He will be re-evaluated. Injury Page.

McDermott Presser: Sean McDermott gave his last press conference before the season opener against the Jets which is now a battle for first place thanks to New England's loss and Miami's unscheduled bye week. The coach spoke this morning before the final practice of the week and said Tanner Vallejo and Jerel Worthy have been ruled out with their injuries but Marcell Dareus is good to go. He also acknowledged that E.J. Gaines will indeed start at cornerback. Injury Page.
McCoy Incentives: Adam Schefter reported yesterday that LeSean McCoy had $2.5 Million in incentives added to his contract. This comes on the heels of Sean McDermott saying he will give him the ball as much as needed to win. He is in the third season of a five-year contract worth up to $40 million, and has a base salary of $6 million.

McCoy Limited: LeSean McCoy was not at the beginning of practice today with a stomach bug but did come out later on and said he was good. He was officially listed as limited. Not practicing for a second straight day were Vanner Tallejo and Jerel Worthy. It is highly unlikely either of them will play. Marcell Dareus was full go after being limited yesterday with his ongoing hip issue. Injury Page.
Jets Game Preview: After a wild preseason that saw the Bills get rid of many players from the old regime a season of rebuilding gets started at home against another rebuilding team the New York Jets. Some will say this is a battle of two tanking teams but the only thing for sure is that the Jets are deeper in the rebuilding mode than the Bills and that is why the Bills are a heavy favorite for probably the only time this year. Game Preview.

Dareus Limited: The first injury report of the year is out and Marcell Dareus is on it. He was limited in practice today with a hip injury. Colt Anderson was also limited with his ongoing foot issues. As Sean McDermott said this morning Tanner Vallejo and Jerel Worthy sat out with injuries. Designated as full practice players were Cordy Glenn, Tyrod Taylor, and Jordan Matthews, Injury Page.
Media Day: The first media day of the season is here as each Wednesday the coaches and top players meet with the local and the opponents media. Sean McDermott spoke to the Bills media this morning and said Tanner Vallejo and Jerel Worthy will not practice today but Tyrod Taylor will and they expect him to start on Sunday. McDermott is getting into his routine for the regular season but he is humbled and thankful for the opportunity to be a head coach. He came here to win football games and perform in front of these fans. They look forward to getting out there in front of them and will make this a hostile place for opponents. The team captains were elected by the team and they are Kyle Williams, Tyrod Taylor, Lorenzo Alexander, Eric Wood, and Steve Hauschka. He wants to have a team with an identity and plays hard and is fundamentally sound. That is a team the fans can get behind and they are invested in the fans like they are invested in the team. Cody Glenn and Jordan Matthews are expected to start barring any setbacks and he feels good about E.J. Gaines as a starter at cornerback. He also said right now John Miller is the starter at right guard and they will have to see who is active on gameday at OL. The team has moved on from the incident with Marcell Dareus and the focus for everyone is to get ready for a good opponent in the New York Jets. He said they had discussions about bringing back Jonathan Williams but they decided to go in a different direction but they are happy for him. LeSean McCoy's workload will be whatever it takes to win the game. The goal line carries will be worked out by the gameplan but it doesn't matter since Shady and Mike Tolbert are team first players. The coach said it doesn't matter if the left guard scores, which led a member of the media to joke that Richie Incognito is the goal line back. McDermott joked he could be and it's a good idea that he will bring to Rick Dennison.

Practice Squad Moves: The Bills continue to tinker with their active roster and the practice squad. They released Marcus Sayles, B.J. Sanders, and Ian Seau and replaced them with DE Eric Lee, OT De'Ondre Wesley, and S Orion Stewart. Lee was an undrafted free agent of the Texans this summer and was trying to transition to a 3-4 LB but is better suited as a 4-3 DE. Stewart was an undrafted free agent with Denver who had 12 college interceptions with Baylor. Wesley was recently by Baltimore and appeared in seven games with the Ravens last year mostly on special teams.
More Roster Moves: Another day, another series of roster moves. The Bills have placed T.J. Yates on injured reserve which means he can't be activated before week 9 of the season. The positive news is that Field Yates is reporting that Tyrod Taylor has been cleared and is out of concussion protocol. He is expected to start on Sunday against the Jets. Yates going on IR gave them the roster spot they needed to activate Colt Anderson as Mike Rodak reported. The team also swapped defensive tackles by releasing Deandre Coleman and signing Cedric Thornton. The newest Bill was released by the Cowboys on Sunday after missing most of camp with a hamstring injury. He was a backup for Dallas last season and had 22 tackles, 1½ sacks, a forced fumble and fumble recovery. Depth Chart. Front Office Page.
Bills Bring Anderson Back: Mike Rodak reports that the Bills are re-signing Colt Anderson today after releasing him yesterday when they signed Joe Webb. Sean McDermott said yesterday that they attended to bring him back which is necessary since they only had three active safeties on the depth chart. No word yet on who they will be letting go to bring Anderson back.
Injury Update: Tyrod Taylor and T.J. Yates remain in concussion protocol but Taylor did return to practice yesterday which may or may not be a good sign that he will be out of the protocol in time to play on Sunday. No word on if Yates will be out of the protocol. It appears that Jerel Worthy will miss the opener after suffering what looked like a nasty concussion in the preseason finale. Tanner Vallejo is sidelined with a knee injury that required surgery. Injury Page.

McDermott Presser: Sean McDermott addressed the media this morning and said that both Tyrod Taylor and T.J. Yates remain in concussion protocol and Taylor's status is up in the air for the opener but he feels he's improving. The coach is confident in Nathan Peterman if he needs to start as he is in control of the whole playbook. Jerel Worthy is in concussion protocol as well. On the release of Jonathan Williams and Kevon Seymour he said they are both fine young men and did everything right. He announced that John Miller will start at right guard and that E.J. Gaines has the edge on the starting corner spot. On the release of Colt Anderson he expects to get him back shortly. Right now Lorenzo Alexander would be the backup at middle linebacker. On the signing of Joe Webb he called him a high energy guy who can help them at various positions and is great for the locker room. He said Cordy Glenn is doing more everyday and that Jordan Matthews isn't fully cleared yet but getting close.
Bills Add QB: The Bills have signed QB Joe Webb who was released by Carolina over the weekend. Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott are very familiar with the jack of all trades QB who is also a special teams demon. The move may be insurance on the health of Tyrod Taylor and T.J. Yates as the Bills now have four quarterbacks on the roster. They only have three safeties left after releasing Colt Anderson to make room for Webb. The team filled out their 10 man practice squad by signing LB Zach Vigil, TE MyCole Pruitt, and G Will Pericak to the unit. Depth Chart.
